The BMW R nineT is, arguably, the most default of default choices for individuals and custom motorcycle firms to begin working on their very own project. Designed from the outright as a ‘blank canvas’ of sorts, the R nineT has been subjected to plenty of artistic endeavors over the years since its introduction in 2014.

Right now, you’re looking at Diamond Atelier’s take on said model – the Bridgestone R nineT EICMA Special. True to its namesake, this particular build was commissioned by Japanese tyre maker, Bridgestone, for the 2017 EICMA show.

However, this project was nearly canned before the it even took off. “It was only a few months before EICMA when they asked us if we were interested in collaborating,” commented Diamond Atelier co-founder, Tom Konecny. “We were super stoked about the offer but were almost forced to decline due to the extremely tough timing.”

Lucky for us, the folks at Diamond Atelier decided to get to work with the donor bike courtesy of Bridgestone. At the center of attention were the tyres – a prototype set of 2018 Bridgestone Battlax. Said tyres were mounted lightweight Gilles forged wheels.

Another key highlight is the headlight assembly, or rather the lack of one in this case. “We’ve been working more and more with 3D printing technology,” added Konecny. “This attempt turned out to be very precise and well proportioned. It replaces the headlight and helps blend the front of the bike to the tank.”

Where exactly is the headlight assembly? It’s hidden away, recessed within the vicinity of the air intakes. Other details include Gilles handlebars, rear sets and frame covers while the rear cowling is an original BMW piece that has been milled to better fit the new silhouette of the motorcycle.
