Thunder Motorcycles has officially entered the Malaysian market with the launch of the Thunder LS250-S, marking the arrival of the country’s first custom-style 250cc bobber inspired by Japan’s legendary custom culture. The launch took place at the Sepang International Circuit on 11 January, with a ceremonial handover of 88 motorcycles to their new owners highlighting the occasion.

Thunder Motorcycles first caught public attention during Art of Speed 2025, where the brand drew strong interest from custom bike enthusiasts and casual visitors alike. Although the marque originates from Japan, its motorcycles are manufactured in China.

Now officially introduced to Malaysia by Bike Continent Sdn Bhd, the distributor behind Scomadi and Lambretta motorcycles, Thunder Motorcycles makes its local debut with the Thunder Custom LS250-S. The model is priced at RM23,788, excluding insurance, and is offered in two variants: Softail and Hardtail.

Powering the LS250-S is a 249cc V-twin, fuel-injected engine paired with a five-speed transmission, producing 17 hp at 8,000 rpm and 19 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm. Power is delivered to the rear wheel via a chain drive, while both the front and rear feature 16-inch wheels equipped with disc brakes.

Staying true to classic custom motorcycle aesthetics, the LS250-S features a springer front fork, a signature element commonly seen on traditional bobber builds. The rear suspension setup differs depending on the variant, with the Hardtail using seat-mounted springs, while the Softail employs a hidden monoshock for a cleaner look.

The rest of the motorcycle keeps things intentionally simple, with basic switchgear, a combined analog and digital meter, and a 7-litre fuel tank. The LS250-S has a claimed kerb weight of 181 kg, reinforcing its solid, old-school custom presence.

With official JPJ and road-legal approval, nationwide registration, and factory-built custom styling, the Thunder LS250-S presents a compelling new option for Malaysian riders looking to enter the custom scene without resorting to extensive modifications.
