Last month, Modenas wonderfully celebrated the festive season, hosting the Riang Ria Modenas Open House Raya! at its headquarters in Gurun, Kedah. The event gathered thousands of riders from across Malaysia, turning the Modenas HQ into a sea of motorcycles and festive cheer.
It was a heartwarming sight as clubs and communities came together, many riding hundreds of kilometres in the spirit of brotherhood and Hari Raya. It was more than just a gathering—it was a true celebration of unity within the motorcycling scene.
I had the chance to join one of the bike communities from the Klang Valley, riding the all-new 2024 Kawasaki ZX-6R. With the long journey ahead, it was the perfect chance to experience the bike’s performance across long open roads—more on that in an upcoming full review!

The day started early, with the first RV point set at R&R Rawang (Northbound) by 7:00 AM. Riders of various Kawasaki and Modenas models gathered, chatting over morning coffee before the convoy briefing was given by Modenas staff member Daus, also known as “John”, who led the ride on a Versys 650.
By 8:00 AM, the convoy of roughly 30 bikes and a few pillions rolled out towards R&R Tapah. The weather was on our side, and the ride flowed smoothly. Along the way, we crossed paths with other rider groups, all seemingly headed toward the same destination, Gurun.

Despite the ZX-6R’s aggressive riding posture, it proved surprisingly stable and enjoyable at highway speeds between 140 and 150 km/h. At one point, I managed to push the bike to a top speed of 246 km/h before the limiter kicked in. Though it’s clear this machine was built for track and twisties, it handled long-distance cruising better than expected, at least for the first hour.
We resumed the journey toward R&R Bukit Gantang around 9:30 AM. This stretch proved a little more challenging, with heavier traffic and physical fatigue setting in. The sporty position of the ZX-6R became more noticeable over time, especially with a constant cruising pace, but the machine never missed a beat.
We arrived at the third checkpoint around 10:00 AM. After a short break, we made our way toward Kepala Batas, where some riders began changing into their traditional Raya attire in preparation for the main event.

At 2:00 PM sharp, we entered the gates of Modenas Gurun. Staff lined up to welcome riders with smiles and cheers, setting the tone for a vibrant and well-organised Raya open house. The feast was incredible, and the entire venue buzzed with laughter, selfies, and festive joy.
A huge appreciation goes out to the Modenas team for their outstanding hospitality and event planning, from the welcoming crew to the food and facilities, everything was top-notch. Their hard work made the event seamless and memorable for everyone involved.

This event was a powerful reminder that when riders come together, especially under the Modenas banner, the energy and unity are something truly special. Later in the afternoon, around 3:00 PM, I began my solo ride back to Kuala Lumpur via the PLUS Expressway, as some riders opted to stay overnight at nearby homestays. The return journey proved far more challenging than the ride up; strong crosswinds, intermittent rain, and the physical toll of riding a supersport bike over long distances really started to set in. But that’s a story for another time.
