Miguel Oliveira will not participate in this weekend’s Spanish Motogp round at Jerez, as he continues to recover from a rare sternoclavicular dislocation sustained during the Sprint race in Argentina. The injury marks his third consecutive absence from the 2025 Motogp season.
Oliveira, who rides for Prima Pramac Yamaha, was injured in a collision with rookie Fermín Aldeguer during the Argentina Sprint race. Although recent medical evaluations show encouraging signs of healing, doctors have determined that the Portuguese rider is not yet fit to return to competition.
In an official statement, the team shared: “Following further medical evaluation of his left shoulder — injured during the Sprint Race in Argentina and diagnosed as a sternoclavicular dislocation — doctors have determined that, despite very positive signs of progress, Oliveira is not yet fit to compete.”
As a result, Augusto Fernandez will once again step in as Oliveira’s replacement, continuing his role from both the Qatar and Americas Grands Prix. Fernandez, Yamaha Factory Racing’s MotoGP test rider, was already scheduled to make a wildcard appearance at Jerez as part of Yamaha’s six-event program but will now race under the Pramac banner for the weekend.
The Spanish rider is coming off a recent private test at Valencia, where Yamaha’s rumoured V4 prototype was reportedly in action.
Looking ahead, MotoGP teams will remain at Jerez for an official test on Monday, where further developments from Yamaha and other manufacturers are expected.
