Qabil Irfan Azlan is determined to continue his excellent performance in the Moto4 European Cup competition as he takes part in Round 4 at the Magny-Cours Circuit, France, which takes place from July 24 to 26. The young national rider is targeting another podium finish after achieving his first career podium in the previous round in Jerez, Spain.

The victory in Jerez was a boost for the 14-year-old rider, who now represents SIC-GRYD Racing. The result also lifted Qabil to sixth place in the overall championship with 51 points, putting him in the best position to continue challenging for the top five.

Thorough preparations to face the challenges at Magny-Cours

During the break, Qabil underwent intensive training in Barcelona, Spain, focusing on physical fitness and technical preparation. The training is expected to help him cope with the unique character of the Magny-Cours Circuit, which is known for its high-speed corners and challenging braking zones.

According to Qabil, the experience gained throughout the first three rounds of this season has increased his confidence to compete with the front group.

“Of course I’m very excited to race in Magny-Cours, France. I know this challenge won’t be easy because all the riders are becoming more competitive based on previous races and they’ve been very fast since the training session.”

“I have also prepared as best as possible with the team and will give 100 percent in every session to ensure I am ready to continue to fight with the front group,” said Qabil.

Bright chance to advance to the top five

The Magny-Cours race is considered quite important as it could be a turning point in Qabil’s efforts to improve his overall championship standings. Currently, he is only a few points away from the top five.

Qabil collected 51 points in sixth place, not far behind Spaniard Ignacio Galán, who occupied fifth place with 53 points. Italy’s Edoardo Savino was in fourth place with 56 points, while Colombia’s Mateo Marulanda collected 59 points in third place. Italy’s Lorenzo Pritelli was in second place with 61 points, while Spain’s Álvaro Lucas continued to lead the overall standings with 95 points.

If he manages to get on the podium at Magny-Cours, Qabil has a chance to jump into the top five overall depending on the results of the other riders.

Zulfahmi is confident that Qabil is capable of challenging for the podium

SIC Racing Team Manager, Zulfahmi Khairuddin, believes Qabil has the potential to once again compete at the front row despite making his first appearance at the Magny-Cours Circuit.

“The fourth round of the Moto4 European Cup at Magny-Cours will be another new challenge for Qabil as this is his first time racing at the circuit. This week I will be there with Qabil.

“I am confident that the team can make some improvements to the machine to ensure Qabil is more competitive throughout this weekend. The race schedule is also quite tight as there is no practice session on Thursday, so he needs to start the competition well as soon as he gets on the track on Friday and adapt to the character of the track as quickly as possible.”

“If all the planning goes smoothly and we get the right machine adjustments, I believe Qabil has the ability to compete in the front group, chase the podium and it is not impossible to challenge for victory,” he said.

With growing confidence from his first podium result and thorough preparation with the team, Qabil Irfan now hopes to continue his consistent pace at Magny-Cours and strengthen his position in the 2026 Moto4 European Cup competition.
