The first round of the 2025 PETRONAS MAM Malaysian Cub Prix Championship at the PETRONAS Sepang International Circuit (North) saw Raiyan Khardanee Md Sanusi of PETRONAS SPRINTA YAMAHA – 31 RACING take victory in the Wira KBS category.

Raiyan had already set the tone during qualifying yesterday, securing pole position with a fastest lap time of 1’35:800s. Sharing the front row with him were Ahmad Iqram Danish Ahmad Ghazali of MBI SELANGOR EXN AXLA (1’35:875s) and Md Syahmi Aiman Md Shafie of YAMAHA ESTREMO 27 RACING (1’36:107s).

The race on Sunday afternoon was packed with action, particularly from reigning 2024 champion and teammate, Farres Putra Md Fadhil, who took an early lead. Raiyan stayed close behind, with both PETRONAS SPRINTA YAMAHA – 31 RACING riders asserting control at the front of the pack throughout the race.

As the laps ticked down, pressure came from two riders representing ZYNERGYS HONDA KC RACING TEAM, who mounted a late-race challenge in hopes of disrupting the Yamaha duo. However, the PETRONAS squad held their ground, maintaining a strong formation.

The final lap delivered a dramatic showdown as all three PETRONAS SPRINTA YAMAHA – 31 RACING teammates Raiyan, Farres, and Md Arfan Ashraf engaged in a fierce dash to the chequered flag. Raiyan emerged victorious, crossing the line in 10’10:190s, narrowly beating Farres by just 0.034 seconds. Arfan completed the all-Yamaha podium sweep in third place.

Speaking after the race, Raiyan said: “We had planned various strategies going into the race to stay up front. Alhamdulillah, everything went to plan, and our team successfully dominated Round 1. Thank you to all team members for their hard work in preparing the best machine, and also to everyone who has supported and believed in me, especially my mother.”
