New 2019 Kawasaki Ninja H2 hits 230 hp!

Taking part of the Bonneville Salt Flats Speed Week, Kawasaki has unveiled the new 2019 version of the exotic and superfast Ninja H2 hyperbike. This year Kawasaki set the goal in extracting even more power from the supercharged engine, and the result is a road-legal motorcycle that comes with 230 hp straight from the factory!

Visually riders won’t find anything new when comparing with the old version, but Kawasaki is keen to note that the new paint that covers the aerodynamic fairings of the Ninja H2 is special, very special indeed.

According to Kawasaki, this paint has the ability to selfheal.

In suitable and high enough ambient temperatures, the paint will be able to recover from minor scratches and scuffs, something that the automotive world already uses, but in this case, Kawasaki in-house development team takes the self-healing paint to a new level, because it’s much faster that all other paint in making scratches disappear.

As for the power increase, the four-cylinder engine continue to be supercharged, making the Ninja H2 the only supercharged sportbike in the world. If the 200 hp of the previous versions was already impressive, this year though, Kawasaki went all-out in search for power, and the result is that performance figures change from 200 to 230 hp!

This increase in power won’t make the Ninja H2 less fuel-friendly, and using parts of the current sport-tourer H2 SX, like air-filter, intake chamber, spark plugs and ECU, the new H2 still manages to keep fuel consumption low.

New additions on the bike are the Bridgestone RS11 tyres that will help to put all this power down on the asphalt, and there’s also a new set of brake calipers, from Brembo of course. We’re talking about the top of the range Stylema calipers, which have better cooling ability, offer a better initial bite feeling and help keep the brake fluid at a more constant temperature.

For those riders who like gadgets, Kawasaki also has something new prepared.

The full colour TFT screen seen on the Ninja H2 SX SE is now used on the 2019 Ninja H2, with the TFT meters having the same contemporary look and feel those currently fitted to the Ninja H2 SX SE but with the added innovation of smartphone connectivity via Kawasaki’s new “Rideology” App. Once paired, the smart phone can display a number of items including vehicle information such as fuel level and battery condition as well as a riding log and service interval updates.
