“The best things in life are meant to be shared.” With that saying laid out front and centre, it’s time we turn our attention to Sinroja Motorcycles’ latest project, a two-up BMW R80 Brat dubbed the ‘R7’. “This BMW was a really fun project to work on,” said Rahul, who forms one half of the Leicester-based firm with his brother, Birju. “The client is very creative and it was great fun sharing ideas and collaborating on the build. We wanted a practical bike for him that was comfortable, rideable and reliable.”
With a donor motorcycle sourced, the duo got started on stripping the entire bike down and rebuilding it from the ground up. “No matter what people say, a engine rebuild on these old BMW airheads makes a huge difference to the performance and reliability for our customers,” confirmed Rahul.
In keeping with the project’s clean-looking theme, the duo replaced the original levers with Brembo items and installed Motogadget electronics. “We cleaned up the handlebars with indicators, mirrors, switches, and a Domino throttle. The top yoke from BMW isn’t exactly our favourite, so we called up some friends over at Fastec Engineering who CNC’d a bespoke top yoke out of billet aluminium that holds the Motogadget dial.”
Next up, the team swapped out the original headlight for a classic Reno unit with a halo ring that mimics BMW’s four-wheeled products. The long, comfy-looking two-up seat is trimmed out of leather from the Bentley Mulsanne. At the rear, a machined case houses 4 LED daytime running lights along with the brake lights.
“The tank is painted in a beautiful Storm Grey with a hint of blue nano flakes, which shine beautifully under the street lights,” commented Rahul on the paint job. Finally, electronics were all junked in favour of a new wiring loom setup by Towza Tronics.
“It all came together nicely, and to top it all off we managed to do a disc brake conversion. It gives the bike some seriously good stopping power and lets be honest, it looks way better than the original BMW-built hub,” concluded Rahul.
