Thornton Hundred’s Speed Triple RR: A Masterpiece of Engineering

Thornton Hundred has set the bar impossibly high with this build. Now, who’s brave enough to take it home?

Triumph’s journey over the past four decades has been nothing short of remarkable. From near bankruptcy in the early ’80s to raking in over a billion dollars in revenue for 2024, the British brand has cemented its place in motorcycling history. A key player in this revival? The iconic Speed Triple, a three-cylinder naked bike with its signature twin headlights, which became a symbol of Triumph’s resurgence.

Triumph dubbed the Speed Triple RR as “the ultimate sports bike for the road,” and you know they mean it. So here comes Jody Millhouse and his team at Thornton Hundred, who saw the potential to turn that bold claim into reality. Taking the half-faired Speed Triple RR as their canvas, they’ve created a supercharged, road-legal monster that redefines what a street bike can be.

This isn’t just another custom build, it’s a 400hp, carbon-clad, tyre-shredding masterpiece that recently stole the show at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. And now, one lucky rider can own this beast, as Thornton Hundred has put it up for sale. Priced at £55,000 (RM315,000), it’s not cheap, but as they say, perfection never is.

What Makes This Bike Special?

At the heart of this machine is a heavily reworked version of Triumph’s 1160cc triple. Thornton Hundred dropped the factory’s 13.2:1 compression ratio to a boost-friendly 10.8:1 with custom forged pistons and rods. Then came the star of the show: a Rotrex C30 supercharger system, complete with a custom inlet tract, plenum, and water/methanol injection to keep things cool.

The result? A mind-blowing 400hp in full drift mode, or a more manageable 230hp for street riding, controlled by a Link ECU and ECUMaster power management unit. The exhaust is a full titanium system weighing just 2.4kg, and the sound it produces is nothing short of symphonic.

Carbon Everything

Weight savings were a top priority, and Thornton Hundred delivered. The bodywork is almost entirely carbon fibre, from the front end and tailpiece to the fender and countless other components. Even the wheels are carbon fibre Rotobox units, drastically reducing unsprung mass.

The bike also features active aerodynamics, with front wings that deploy a central blade to add 24kg of downforce when needed. And let’s not forget the custom billet swingarm, which is 180mm longer than stock and houses the water/methanol injection system.

Thornton Hundred

Street Legal, But Barely

Despite its race-bred specs, this Speed Triple RR is fully road legal and MOT compliant. It even has tiny indicators integrated into the heel guards and a quirky ECU-controlled voice system that revs you up (or scolds you) like a muscular Siri.

The suspension has been upgraded to a fully manual Ohlins setup, and the brakes are a Brembo masterpiece with titanium pistons, ceramic pads, and EBC wave rotors. A quickshifter ensures seamless gear changes, while the entire package tips the scales at just 190kg.

Thornton Hundred

The Ultimate Toy for the Ultimate Enthusiast

A supercharged, carbon-fibre-clad, road-legal masterpiece that pushes the boundaries of what’s possible. With only 250 miles on the clock and a 24-month unlimited-mile warranty, it’s ready to unleash chaos on the streets or the track.

If you’ve got £55,000 burning a hole in your pocket and a thirst for adrenaline, this Thornton Hundred-built Triumph Speed Triple RR might just be the ultimate hooligan machine you’ve been dreaming of.
