Yuzy Racing’s Honda Estremo rider, Azroy Hakeem Anuar, delivered a dominant performance to claim his second CP150 victory of the Petronas Malaysia Cub Prix Championship season in the final race at Batu Kawan, Penang.

Despite his impressive showing, Azroy fell just short of securing third place overall, which was claimed by his closest competitor, Kasma Daniel Kasmayudin from the Petronas Sprinta Yamaha Maju Motor team.

Kasma entered the race with an eight-point lead over Azroy and successfully defended his position, finishing the season with 124 points compared to Azroy’s 121.

Md Akid Aziz from Petronas Sprinta Yamaha – CKJ Racing

Meanwhile, the overall CP150 title and runner-up positions had already been decided in Round 9 at Bandar Medini, Johor, with Md Akid Aziz from Petronas Sprinta Yamaha – CKJ Racing claiming both honours.

The Batu Kawan finale faced some drama when the race had to be restarted on the 15th lap due to an oil spill. Despite the interruption, Azroy maintained his dominance, leading both segments of the race while Akid suffered a crash.

Although Azroy’s season included two wins and two second-place finishes across ten rounds, a crash and his absence in Round 8, where he raced in WorldSSP as a wildcard, ultimately cost him a podium finish in the overall standings.

“Happy with this win but there is something less happy because I could not confirm the third place overall because there were laps I had an accident and there were laps I missed,” Azroy reflected. “The team and I will learn from our mistakes and try to be consistent next year to reclaim the championship title.”

CP125 and KBS Hero Classes Crown Season Champions

Meanwhile, in the CP125 category, Md Syamil Amsyar Md Iffende of Petronas Sprinta Yamaha – 31 Racing secured the overall championship by winning the Batu Kawan race. Md Izam Ikmal Izamli of Petronas Sprinta Yamaha – CKJ Racing, Syamil’s closest rival, finished third in the race, settling for second overall.

Honda KC Racing’s Md Irfan Haykhal Amidi claimed second place in the Batu Kawan race, earning him third in the final standings.

Meanwhile, the KBS Hero class saw Farres Putra Md Fadhil of Petronas Sprinta Yamaha – CKJ Racing crowned overall champion despite finishing fourth in the final round. The race victory went to Md Akif Abdullah from Honda Wave KC Racing, though his maximum points haul only secured him the overall runner-up spot.

Yamaha Estremo 27 Racing’s Md Adib Arsyad Md Hisam finished second, while teammate Md Akid Md Shah Khearul Nisiam completed the podium.

With a thrilling conclusion at Batu Kawan, the 2024 Malaysia Cub Prix season comes to an end, setting the stage for even more for the next exciting 2025 campaign next year.
