KTM 250 Adventure and KTM 390 Adventure are now available in Malaysia! The KTM 250 and 390 Adventure roll in with a price tag of RM 21,500 and  RM 30,800 respectively.

KTM 390 Adventure, KTM 250 Adventure Malaysia

A week earlier, we posted an update regarding the launch and pre-booking details of the upcoming  sub-400cc KTM Adventure bikes for Malaysia. Well, just as speculated earlier KTM Malaysia launched the much-anticipated KTM 250 Adventure and KTM 390 Adventure on the 24th of December 2020.  Following a lot of rumours and speculations, the KTM 250 and 390 Adventure are finally here!

2021 KTM 250 Adventure

The KTM 250 Adventure is the smallest motorcycle in KTM’s Adventure range. Featuring a liquid-cooled 248.8cc single-cylinder, 4-stroke DOHC engine; mated to a 6-speed gearbox, the KTM 250 Adventure pushes 22 kW (30 hp) @ 9,000rpm and 24 Nm of peak torque @ 7,250 rpm.

In the case of the chassis, the 250 Adventure features a lightweight trellis frame that’s similar to the one that’s found on the race-proven KTM 450 Rally. Weighing in approx. 156kg dry, the 250 Adventure is a lightweight machine for both on-road and off-road use.

Moving on to the suspension, the KTM 250 Adventure features WP APEX 43mm non-adjustable front fork and a preload-adjustable WP APEX monoshock at the rear. In the case of brakes, braking is done via a 4-piston radially mounted calliper with 320mm disc up front and a 230 mm disc with a single-piston floating calliper at the rear.

The KTM 250 Adventure comes with 19-inch cast aluminium wheel with 100/90 tire up front and a 17 inch cast aluminium wheel with 130/80 tire at the rear. Dimension wise, the KTM 250 Adventure rolls in with a 200mm ground clearance and 830mm seat height. Fuel is contained in a 14.5-litre tank with 3.5 litres reserve. KTM says the 250 Adventure can do 100 km on 3.10 litres of fuel.

In the case of electronics, the KTM 250 Adventure packs Bosch 9.1MB Two-Channel ABS with off-road mode and Bosch EMS with Ride-by-Wire, LED headlamp and a modern 5-inch TFT instrument panel.

KTM 250 Adventure availability and pricing

As for the availability and pricing, the KTM 250 Adventure will go on sale for RM 21,500++ around mid-February 2021 in Malaysia. As other markets, the 250 Adventure will be offered in two colours: Orange and Black.

2021 KTM 390 Adventure

The bigger brother, KTM 390 Adventure is also built around the same race-proven KTM 450 Rally’s chassis that’s found on the 250 Adventure.

The KTM 390 Adventure is powered by a liquid-cooled 373.2cc single-cylinder 4-stroke DOHC engine. Mated to a 6-speed gearbox with Power Assist Slipper Clutch; the 390 Adventure pushes 32 kW (44 hp) @ 9,000 rpm and 37 Nm @ 7,000 rpm.

Suspension duties are taken care of by WP APEX 43mm front fork [with adjustable compression and rebound] and WP APEX rear mono-shock
with rebound and preload adjustability.

Similar to the 250 Adventure, braking is done via a 4-piston, radially mounted calliper with 320 mm disc up front and a single-piston floating calliper with 230 mm disc at the rear. Wheel and tire sizes are the same on the KTM 390 Adventure. The 390 Adventure rolls in with 2.50 x 19″cast aluminium wheel with 100/90 tire up front and a 3.50 x 17″ cast aluminium wheel with 130/80 tire at the rear.

The bigger 390 Adventure weighs 158 kg dry and rolls in with a ground clearance of 200mm and a seat height of 830mm. Similar to the 250 Adventure, fuel is contained in a 14.5-litre tank with 3.5 litres reserve. In the case of the fuel consumption, KTM says the 390 Adventure can do 100km on 3.37 litres of fuel.

The 390 Adventure also packs Bosch EMS with Ride-by-Wire and Bosch 9.1MP two-channel ABS with off-road mode. However, unlike the 250 Adventure, the 390 Adventure gets Cornering ABS as well. Besides this, the model also gets lean-angle sensitive traction control (MTC) and Quick shifter as standard. The 390 Adventure comes with LED headlight and a 5-inch full-colour TFT instrument panel with KTM’s My Ride Navigation system as an added rider aid.

KTM 390 Adventure availability and pricing

The KTM 390 Adventure will be available for test ride starting 3rd January 2021 in Malaysia. The model will be available at KTM Authorised dealers nationwide starting 10th January 2021 with a retail price of RM 30,900++. Just like the 250 Adventure, the 390 Adventure is offered in Black and Orange.
