Yamaha Motor Europe has confirmed that Jeremy Alcoba will join its FIM Supersport World Championship (WorldSSP) programme for the 2027 season, competing with the AS BLU CRU Racing Team.
The 24-year-old Spaniard heads into the new campaign in strong form after finishing the 2026 championship with an impressive run of results. Alcoba scored more points than any other rider across the final three rounds, securing podium finishes in all six races, including four victories.
His late-season performance saw him climb from sixth to third in the final championship standings, strengthening his position as one of the riders to watch heading into 2027.
A former JuniorGP Champion, Alcoba has also recorded podium finishes at Grand Prix level. He previously competed in Yamaha colours with the Yamaha VR46 Master Camp Team in the Moto2 World Championship before moving into WorldSSP.
His move to AS BLU CRU Racing Team comes after a successful 2026 campaign for the Swiss outfit. The team secured the WorldSSP riders’ championship with Albert Arenas, claimed the teams’ title and helped Yamaha win its record 12th manufacturers’ championship.
Alcoba will get his first opportunity to ride the Yamaha R9 ahead of the 2027 season during winter testing as he prepares to challenge for the championship with his new team.

The 2027 WorldSSP season is scheduled to begin at Phillip Island in Australia from February 19 to 21. Yamaha Motor Europe will announce the remainder of its rider line-up for the championship in due course.
Alcoba expressed his excitement about joining Yamaha, describing the opportunity as an important step after two challenging seasons. He believes the Yamaha R9 and the experience within AS BLU CRU Racing Team will give him a strong platform to fight for the title.
The Spaniard also acknowledged that his recent results had finally allowed him to demonstrate his potential, with his main objective for 2027 being to help the team retain its championship crown.
Niccolò Canepa, Yamaha Motor Europe’s Road Racing Sporting Manager, said Alcoba’s performances during the final three rounds of 2026 had made him a strong candidate for the manufacturer’s WorldSSP programme.
Canepa highlighted the Spaniard’s four victories in the final six races, noting that his ability to consistently score points made him an important addition to the team.
He also praised AS BLU CRU Racing Team for its achievements throughout the 2026 campaign, adding that Alcoba’s arrival would further strengthen the squad as it prepares to defend its titles next season.
With Alcoba joining the reigning championship-winning team, Yamaha will aim to maintain its dominance in WorldSSP in 2027, while the Spaniard will look to build on his late-season momentum and establish himself as a serious contender for the riders’ title.
