Ducati unveiled the all-new 2021 Ducati V4 SP alongside the 2021 Ducati SuperSport 950 during the third episode of the Ducati World Première web series. For 2021,  the Panigale V4 and V4 S models get Euro 5 treatment. However, Ducati announced that the weight and power output figures would remain the same as the ongoing model.

Other updates for the 2021 Ducati Panigale V4:

Aside from this, for 2021, Ducati includes the latest Ducati Corse pampered DTC EVO 3 traction control system. Furthermore, the Ducati Panigale V4 2021 range get split Race Riding Mode which allows the rider to have 2 different configurations.

The Track Oriented Ducati Panigale V4 SP

For 2021, Ducati expands the Panigale family by introducing the track only Panigale V4 SP. The “Sport Production” Panigale V4 SP is a limited run model with each numbered straight from the factory. The V4 SP comes in a dedicated livery and is equipped with all the essential track-oriented technical features.

Design

In the case of the design, the Ducati Panigale V4 SP gets inspiration from winter test bikes used by official MotoGP and Superbike teams. Details like the exposed aluminium fuel tank, the matt back fairings with red details and the carbon fibre components all around make the Panigale V4 SP a very mean looking machine. Thanks to the lightweight components, weighing 173 kg dry, the V4 SP is 1kg lighter than the V4 S.

The Ducati Superlegerra V4 SP gets 5 split-spoke carbon rims which are 1.4kg lighter than the forged aluminium rims found on the Panigale V4S. This makes the SP significantly more agile, light and nimble. On the ergonomics side of things, the Rizoma anodized aluminium footpegs on the Panigale V4 SP are fully adjustable.

As the 2021 Panigale V4 SP is strictly for road use, it comes equipped with a racing kit which includes; rearview mirror and license plate holder removal kit, open clutch cover and Ducati Data Analyzer + with GPS module.

Powertrain

Powered by a 1,103 cc Desmosedici Stradale  90° V4 engine, mated to a 6-speed gearbox, the Superleggera V4 SP is capable of delivering 214 hp at 13,000 rpm, and 123.5 NM of torque at 9,500 rpm.

The V4 engine of the Panigale V4 SP uses STM EVO-SBK dry clutch made from billet aluminium as opposed to wet clutch on the V4S. Overall, this allows the V4 SP to be more effective on the track. Aside from this, power is transmitted to the rear wheel through a narrower and lighter 520 pitch chain.

 Braking and Suspension

The SP  comes equipped with exclusive  Brembo Stylema R® front brake callipers that ensure sufficient braking power. The Stylema R callipers are activated by Brembo MCS radial pump.

In the case of the suspension, just like the V4 S, the Panigale V4 SP comes with an Öhlins NIX-30 front fork and Öhlins TTX36 rear shock absorber. It comes with a steering damper controlled by the Öhlins Smart EC system of 2nd generation.

Electronics

The Panigale V4 SP uses 6-axis Bosch inertial platform and the V4 SP’s electronic package consist of:

  • Bosch EVO Cornering ABS
  • Ducati Traction Control EVO 3 (DTC EVO 3)
  • Ducati Slide Control (DSC)
  • Ducati Wheelie Control EVO (DWC EVO)
  • Ducati Power Launch (DPL)
  • Ducati Quick Shift up / down EVO 2 (DQS EVO 2)
  • Engine Brake Control EVO (EBC EVO)
  • Ducati Electronic Suspension EVO (DES EVO)

Availability and Price

Ducati announced that the new Euro 5 compliant 2021 Ducati Panigale V4 and V4 S will be available in dealers starting December 2021.  In the case of the newly introduced Panigale V4 SP, it will only be available from March 2021 onwards. However, details of prices and the number of V4 SP units to be sold have not yet been announced.
