During the recent BMW Motorrad Days in Japan, the German manufacturer showed for the first time its new G310RR, a beginners sportbike based on the TVS Apache RR 310, built in India. This new G310RR is expected to be shown at the next INTERMOT Cologne motorcycle show, and will face an ever-increasing line-up of rivals, including the Honda CBR300R, the Yamaha YZF-R3, Kawasaki Ninja 400 or even the KTM RC390 just to mention a few.
These first photos of the G310RR show a motorcycle very similar in design to its bigger sister, the powerful S1000RR, a model which will also receive a complete makeover for 2019.
The showroom bike in Japan was fitted with full carbon fiber bodywork, a material BMW Motorrad has been very interested in using on their bikes, and they’ve been developing technical solutions with carbon fiber in mind, like a frame and wheels that we can find on the exotic HP4 Race.
Unfortunately, the road version of the G310RR won’t have these carbon fairings and we still need to wait for the INTERMOT to start before we know what’s new with the G310RR.
The bike will also be a good base for riders wishing to enter the World Supersport 300 championship, so we can expect to see some of these bikes racing next season.
