Red Bull KTM Factory Racing has officially announced the signing of Alex Marquez on a multi-year contract beginning with the 2027 MotoGP season, marking a major addition to the Austrian manufacturer’s long-term ambitions in the premier class.

The former Moto3 and Moto2 World Champion will join Red Bull KTM as the team enters the next chapter of its MotoGP project and prepares for the introduction of the new 850cc technical regulations in 2027.

Marquez arrives with a wealth of experience, having competed in 13 seasons of Grand Prix racing, including six years in MotoGP. Throughout his career, the Spaniard has claimed 16 Grand Prix victories and stood on the podium 56 times across Moto3, Moto2, and MotoGP, making him one of the most accomplished riders on the current grid.

A proven race winner with KTM roots

Alex Marquez’s history with KTM dates back to 2013, when he celebrated his first Grand Prix podium and victory aboard the KTM RC4 in Moto3. Since then, he has developed into one of MotoGP’s leading contenders.

His breakthrough campaign in the premier class came in 2025, when he secured victories at Jerez, Catalunya, and Malaysia, finishing the season as MotoGP World Championship runner-up. He continued his strong form by adding another victory at Jerez in 2026, further cementing his reputation as a consistent front-runner.

Experience to shape KTM’s future MotoGP project

Beyond his race-winning ability, Marquez is recognised for his technical understanding, consistency, and maturity, qualities Red Bull KTM believes will be invaluable as development of the KTM RC16 continues under MotoGP’s upcoming 850cc regulations.

The team sees the Spaniard as a key figure in helping refine the motorcycle while strengthening its challenge for race victories and championship success in the years ahead.

KTM confident Marquez is the right fit

Pit Beirer, KTM Motorsports Director, welcomed Marquez to the factory team and expressed confidence in the partnership.

“We are extremely proud and happy to have secured an exceptional talent like Alex Marquez—the 2025 World Championship runner-up—for our project. Alex brings not only outstanding skill and race intelligence but also determination and a winning mindset that perfectly matches our DNA.”

Beirer added that both rider and manufacturer share the same ambition.

“Together we have a clear objective: to take the KTM RC16 to the next level and fight consistently at the very front of MotoGP.”

With Alex Marquez joining the factory squad from 2027, Red Bull KTM Factory Racing is reinforcing its commitment to becoming a championship contender in MotoGP’s new era, combining proven rider talent with continued technical development.
