Ministry of Transport Malaysia (MoT) has instructed Road Transport Department Malaysia (JPJ) to immediately restore online vehicle ownership transfer (THM) services after the department previously suspended the system for improvement works.
Transport Minister Anthony Loke said the decision was made following discussions with JPJ Director-General Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli after reports surfaced regarding the temporary suspension of the online service.
According to Anthony Loke, JPJ informed the ministry that there had been cases involving abuse and fraudulent activities within the ownership transfer system, exposing the department to certain liabilities and making immediate system improvements necessary.
However, he stressed that enhancement works should not negatively affect normal users or create major congestion at JPJ counters nationwide.
“I advised JPJ to ensure that system improvement works do not disrupt the daily affairs of ordinary users and do not cause massive congestion at JPJ offices,” said Anthony Loke in a statement shared on Facebook.
“JPJ has agreed to immediately restore online services for vehicle ownership transfer transactions.”
Earlier, JPJ announced the temporary suspension of all online THM transactions effective immediately.
The suspension involved all digital channels including the JPJ public portal, kiosks and platforms operated by official partners such as MyEG and eAuto Sdn Bhd.
JPJ had previously stated that the move was introduced after receiving several official complaints and social media reports involving vehicle ownership transfers allegedly carried out without the knowledge of registered owners.
The department explained that the temporary suspension was intended to allow detailed reviews and improvements to be carried out on the current system to ensure the security and integrity of ownership transfer processes remain protected.
With the latest directive from the Transport Ministry, online ownership transfer services are now expected to resume immediately while JPJ continues system enhancement works in the background.
