Jabatan Pengangkutan Jalan Malaysia (JPJ) has announced a temporary suspension of all online vehicle ownership transfer (THM) services effective May 25, 2026.
In an official statement shared on its Facebook page, JPJ confirmed that the suspension affects its public portal, kiosks, as well as third-party service providers including MyEG and eAuto Sdn Bhd.
According to JPJ, the immediate measure was introduced following several official complaints and reports on social media involving vehicle ownership transfers allegedly carried out without the knowledge of registered owners.
The department said it views the matter seriously, particularly regarding the integrity and security of vehicle registration records within the JPJ system.
“JPJ views this issue seriously, especially matters involving the maintenance and security of vehicle registration records within the JPJ system,” the statement read.
As a result, all ownership transfer transactions for private individual and private company vehicles must now be carried out physically at JPJ counters nationwide.
For private individual transfers, JPJ stated that the process can still be completed on the same day at all state JPJ offices and branches.
Meanwhile, ownership transfers involving private companies will require between five and seven working days for verification and approval after complete documents are submitted.
JPJ also clarified that under eAuto services, only the Temporary Ownership Transfer System (STMS) will continue operating as usual.
However, the permanent ownership transfer system through eSerahan Tukar Milik (eSTM) has been temporarily suspended.
The department added that any parties, including used vehicle dealers wishing to process eSTM applications, must now submit their applications directly at JPJ state offices or branches.
JPJ stressed that it remains committed to continuously improving and strengthening the management and control of vehicle registration records within its system.
At the same time, the public has been advised to regularly check and update their vehicle ownership information and records with JPJ to avoid future issues involving registration or ownership status.
