KTM’s electric future is beginning to take shape with the first public appearance of the KTM E-Duke prototype, seen on display at KTM Motohall in Mattighofen, Austria. The all-electric version of the Duke was recently spotted in a video shared by KTM stunt rider Rok Bagoros, giving enthusiasts a sneak peek at the long-rumoured electric streetfighter.

Originally confirmed during KTM’s 2022 investor presentation, the E-Duke is expected to feature a 5.5 kWh battery paired with a 10 kW nominal electric motor. While the exact specs remain under wraps, early indications suggest a real-world riding range of under 100 km, with KTM prioritizing riding dynamics over outright efficiency.

From the prototype, it’s clear that the E-Duke borrows heavily from the Duke 390’s chassis, sharing its trellis frame, aluminium swingarm, offset rear monoshock, and braking setup. The electric motor is mounted in the traditional engine space and drives the rear wheel via a chain drive, retaining the mechanical character Duke riders are familiar with.

Interestingly, the prototype displays what appears to be an integrated charging cable slot near the top of the “tank” section, similar to the Bajaj Chetak setup, allowing for easier plug-in charging without a separate cable.

Design-wise, the E-Duke still screams KTM with its aggressive styling, sharp tank extensions, muscular stance, and sleek headlamp unit. The prototype also features fully adjustable front suspension, disc brakes at both ends, and a compact colour TFT display for the cockpit.

While KTM hasn’t released an official launch timeline, the presence of a working prototype and its appearance at Motohall strongly suggests that the Austrian brand is getting closer to unveiling its first electric naked motorcycle.  Stay tuned for more as we await further updates on KTM’s electrified future.
