If you haven’t heard of Bonnell yet, you’re about to. This Austin, Texas-based brand has been quietly making waves in the electric mountain bike world, but now they’re ready to hit the dirt—hard. With a team scattered across the US, Australia, Hong Kong, and China, Bonnell is rolling out two new electric dirt bikes later this year: the 805 and the 902.

And from the looks of it, they’re not messing around.

Meet the 805: Fun, Light, and Ready to Ride

The 805 is built for riders who want serious fun without needing pro-level skills to control it. It’s packing 40 horsepower, a 3.1-kWh swappable battery, and a solid 245 mm of travel in the front suspension. Up front, you’ve got a 21-inch wheel, with an 18-incher at the back—pretty standard for proper off-road machines.

One super cool feature? USB-C charging is built right into the frame. Yep, you can juice up your bike with the same laptop charger you use for your phone or computer. No bulky, weird chargers needed.

The 805 sounds like the perfect pick for weekend trail warriors or anyone who wants to dip a toe into the dirt bike world without going full race mode.

The 902: Built to Tear It Up

Now, if you do want full race mode, say hello to the 902. This thing is custom-built from the ground up—no off-the-shelf parts—and it’s absolutely stacked.

We’re talking 62 horsepower and a ridiculous 664 ft-lb (900 Nm) of torque. Suspension travel? A massive 285 mm both front and back, riding on specially made Sirris suspension gear. Basically, it’s built to smash through trails like a rocket on two wheels.

You can also pick your battery setup: a bigger 6.6-kWh pack for long rides or a lighter 4.6-kWh “Race” pack if you want to keep things super agile.

Compared to something like the crazy-fast $11,000 Stark Varg MX, the 902’s power is just a little lower—but the torque is right there, and it’s probably going to be a blast to ride.

Tech for Days

Both bikes come packed with some pretty sweet tech. You get a handlebar-mounted digital dash where you can switch between Precision, Performance, and Race modes, and even fire up a lap timer whenever you feel like it.

There’s also a funky little “Joy-con” controller on the bars to flick through your options, tweak five different ride modes, and see your ride stats. Plus, a trigger lever you can set up for regenerative braking or to act like an electronic clutch—pretty slick.

And with a 6-axis IMU onboard, you’ll have goodies like wheelie control and multi-mode traction control helping you stay upright when things get wild.

So, How Much and When?

Bonnell hasn’t dropped official pricing or a launch date just yet. But if the rumors are right, expect the 902 to land somewhere around $11,000 (approx. RM53,000) and the 805 a couple thousand bucks cheaper.

No doubt, these bikes are going to shake things up. We’ll be keeping an ear out and maybe a set of goggles ready for when Bonnell’s electric dirt beasts hit the trails later this year.
