John McPhee and Khairul Idham Pawi aim to continue their victorious streak in Austria this weekend.
PETRONAS Sprinta Racing has high hopes for a Moto3 success this weekend at Austria. Riders John McPhee and Khairul Idham Pawi will be looking forward to continuing the good form the team has enjoyed previously at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg.
McPhee and KIP are set to take on the second of three back-to-back Moto3 races starting this weekend. The weather conditions are forecast to be unpredictable. In contrast to the recent extreme heat, the Austrian double-header could throw up a fresh set of challenges as the duo hope to build upon a pair of strong recovery rides at Brno.
Free Practice will get underway for the Moto3 duo at 9 am local time (3 pm MYT) on Friday, with Sunday’s 23-lap race due to start at 11 am local time (5 pm MYT).
John McPhee (PETRONAS Sprinta Racing)- What to Expect?
“I’m really looking forward to going to Austria; it’s a track that’s always been very good to me in the past, so I feel that we can be really strong there. It’s exciting to go back, especially having been on the podium there last year. There’s a really nice atmosphere at the Red Bull Ring and it’s quite unique with the big hill in the approach to Turn 1 and Turn 3. It’s really good for Moto3 because there are so many hard braking zones, so we can be sure it’s going to be an interesting race. Plus it’s nice knowing that we’ll be riding again in just a couple of days. I think it’s going to be a good one.”
Khairul Idham Pawi (PETRONAS Sprinta Racing)- What to Expect?
“Clinica Mobile has given me something to stop me moving the injured finger so that I can rest it as much as possible before the next race. This is really important because I know Austria will be tough with my injury, as it requires a lot of hard braking in the corners. We need to understand what we can do to help speed my recovery along. I’m going to be trying my hardest and we’ll see what we can do when we get there. Last year I couldn’t participate in this GP so it’s been a while since I’ve been at the circuit, but we have two weekends at the same track so this will help me over these next two races.”
