CAKE becomes a two-time winner of the Red Dot Design Award. Receiving honours for the performance-oriented Kalk in 2019 and the utility-focused model, Ösa, in 2020!
CAKE
The Swedish lightweight electric motorcycle manufacturer, CAKE’s mission is to work towards a zero-emission society while developing light, quiet, and clean high performance electric off-road motorcycles. CAKE’s first model, the Kalk was debuted at the Denver’s OR and Munich’s ISPO show in January 2018. Which received numerous accolades, including being recognized as “Best in Show” by several outdoor industry publications.
Currently, CAKE’s lineup includes the Kalk, a street-legal motorcycle as well as Ösa+ and Ösa Lite, a utility platform with an integrated power station and off-road capabilities.
The newest design, Ösa launched in November 2019 and has already won numerous awards, including 2020 IF Design Award and Gear Junkie’s Best in Show. CAKE recently announced that their utility-focused motorbike and scooter, Ösa just won a 2020 Red Dot design award. This is actually CAKE’s second time winning the Red dot design award. Back in 2019, CAKE won for its debut performance-oriented model, Kalk!
“Given all that is taking place in the world right now with the rise of this horrible pandemic, now is not the time for asinine celebration. But we must say that we are incredibly honoured to be recognized by the Red Dot Jury,” says Stefan Ytterborn, CEO & Founder of CAKE. “Like everyone on the Red Dot team, we are a bunch of colleagues and associated vendors, manufacturers, and partners, looking beyond now, crossing our fingers that the light will come sooner than later to our current hardships. And this award gives each of us every bit of extra energy to do just that. To borrow from the Hamiltons, ‘Through!’”
CAKE Ösa
Lately, CAKE’s Ösa was a buzz in the motorcycle world because of its unique minimalist design. CAKE’s Ösa is heavily influenced by the workbench design. The modular, utility motorbike and scooter platform, Ösa design features a large grey uni-bar extending out from underneath the seat. This modular, clamp-on system serves as the heart of the Ösa which allows users to attach baskets, bags and tools. CAKE also claims that the bike can create over 1,000 different possible configurations!
With the powerful battery and multiple outlets, the Ösa can act as a power station on wheels too! This enables riders and users to be completely independent off the grid. You name it, whether it’s a carpenter charging power tools to build a cabin, or a package/restaurant delivery service executing clean, last-mile deliveries in cities around the world, the possibilities for self-supported exploration and enterprise are endless.
Ösa comes in two models, Ösa Lite and Ösa+. Ösa Lite is a scooter model which has a top speed of 30 mph and starts at $6,500 USD. On the other hand, Ösa+ is the motorcycle model, boasts a top speed of 60mph starts at $8,500 USD.
