We know electric motorcycles are gaining momentum, with stricter emissions rules having a huge impact on how we see these vehicles. Big manufacturers are working on their future models, but there’s also a bunch of small companies working in this, and Portuguese brand Axiis has now revealed their vision for an electric supermoto: The Liion.

What started as a motorcycle components manufacturer, specialized in machined parts for off road bikes, Axiis has now made the bold move to create and build a working prototype of the Liion.

From the first drawings we could already know this electric supermoto would be a beast, but now that Axiis have already built the frame, battery case and the beautiful one side swingarm, all of them machined from a single block of aluminum, we’ve got an update on this special project with the company revealing their latest design updates and the Liion technical specifications.

The battery pack has a 78 kWh maximum capacity, which powers up an electric motor capable of pushing the Liion to a maximum speed of 200 km/h. Peak power from this engine reaches 100 kW, but continuous power is roughly half of this, at 55 kW.

At just a little over 134 kg (wet weight) and a wheelbase of 1429 mm, the Axiis Liion electric supermoto will surely be a fantastic bike to ride around town, while at the same time offering great riding pleasure on twisty roads up in the mountains.

There’s still no word yet as to when Axiis plans on having a working prototype on the road, but considering that the chassis components are already being manufactured, we believe that in 2019 this small Portuguese company will be able to complete the rest of the bike and start testing and developing the electronic package to control all that electric power.

We will keep on following this electric supermoto project, and give you all the updates on the Axiis Liion.

With more than ten years as a motorcycle journalist, i enjoy everything that has to do with two-wheels. I'm a fan of sport bikes and i prefer riding them on a racetrack, but give me a road filled with corners and good asphalt and i'll be there to have some fun!
