The Petronas MAM Malaysian Cub Prix Championship is set to return for its 32nd season in 2025, kicking off after the Hari Raya Aidilfitri holidays.
The championship will feature a familiar 10-round format, bringing together racers, teams, and motorsport enthusiasts across districts in Peninsular Malaysia. Petronas, in collaboration with Safe Aim Mutual, continues to drive the nation’s motorsport aspirations.
Ron Hogg, Promotion Director of Safe Aim Mutual, reaffirmed the partnership’s commitment to advancing the sport and nurturing emerging talent. “Our mission to elevate national motorsport remains steadfast,” Hogg said.
“In addition to enhancing the skills of professional racers, we aim to uncover new local talent and provide them opportunities to excel on the Asian and international stages. For the 2025 season, we’ve made slight adjustments to the race locations to offer a fresh experience for racers and teams, along with planned initiatives to raise awareness and appreciation for this motorsport.”
Hogg also acknowledged the crucial role of sponsors and partners, particularly Petronas, in ensuring the success of the championship. “Our achievements would not have been possible without the collective efforts of sponsors, partners, and everyone involved. Thank you for your dedication, and we look forward to another exciting season.”
The 2024 season wrapped up with a dramatic finale in Batu Kawan, Penang, where Selangor-born Azroy fought off fierce competition from Kasma Daniel Kasmayudin and Ahmad Afif Amran.
Despite crashing out during the fifth lap of the final round, KL-native Mohamad Akid Aziz of Petronas Sprinta Yamaha CKJ Racing clinched the CP150 championship title with 25 points. Azroy secured second place in the standings, while Terengganu’s Ahmad Afif finished third.
With its rich history and strong commitment to fostering local talent, the Malaysian Cub Prix Championship remains a cornerstone of national motorsport, offering thrilling competition and opportunities for riders to shine on a larger stage.
