Cristian Borrelli capped off a dream weekend by securing his second victory of the round in the TVS Racing International Championship category at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, completing a clean sweep on home soil during Round 5 of the 2026 FIM Asia Road Racing Championship.
The Italian rider once again demonstrated impressive race craft and composure, fending off a highly competitive field to claim victory in front of his home fans.
Fast Start Sparks Intense Battle
Portugal’s Pedrinho Matos made the perfect launch from the grid to grab the holeshot as the race got underway. Close behind were Malaysia’s Mohd Ramdan Mohd Rosli, Vietnam’s Luca Agostinelli, India’s Chiranth Vishwanath, and Cristian Borrelli, with the leading group quickly establishing a fast pace.
By the second lap, Luca moved into the lead while Cristian continued to work his way through the pack, climbing into third position as the front runners remained tightly bunched.
Cristian Takes Control Midway Through the Race
The race took a dramatic turn on Lap 4 when several riders battled fiercely for the lead. Spain’s Luis Miguel briefly moved to the front after setting a fast lap of 1’50.837s, overtaking Luca.
However, Cristian wasted little time responding. The Italian rider seized an opportunity to overtake Luis and claim the race lead, a move that reshuffled the leading group and sparked an exciting multi-rider battle with constant position changes.
Further behind, Malaysia’s Mohd Ramdan Mohd Rosli produced one of the standout moments of the race. Running sixth on Lap 6, he clocked an impressive 1’50.228s lap before executing a bold double overtake that elevated him into third place. South Africa’s Oratilwe Phiri remained close behind as the battle for the podium intensified.

Last-Lap Drama Seals Double Victory
The final lap delivered a thrilling conclusion as Luis Miguel continued to pressure Cristian for the lead, while Pedrinho Matos launched an aggressive late charge.
Pedrinho also recorded the fastest lap of the race with a time of 1’49.796s before making a decisive move on Ramdan in the closing corners to secure third place.
Despite the relentless pressure, Cristian remained calm at the front and crossed the finish line first with a winning time of 13’03.367s, completing a perfect weekend with victories in both races at Misano.
Luis Miguel finished just 0.173 seconds behind in second place, while Pedrinho completed the podium in third. Mohd Ramdan Mohd Rosli narrowly missed out on a podium finish in fourth, followed by Oratilwe Phiri in fifth.
Cristian: Winning at Home Makes It Extra Special
Following the race, Cristian admitted he had not expected to leave Misano with two victories.
“I really didn’t expect to take a double victory this weekend. Race 1 was crazy and intense with so much overtaking, whereas in Race 2, my focus was entirely on managing my pace and defending cleanly at the front.”
“I gave it everything out there, and to deliver this double win on home soil for Italy feels unbelievable. I would like to express my deepest gratitude to FIM Italy and TVS Asia for giving me this fantastic opportunity to compete, as well as the chance to test myself against such talented riders from all around the world.”
