Carlos Cano will make his Moto3 World Championship debut in 2027 after being confirmed as the newest rider for the CFMOTO Aspar Team. The announcement comes just days after the young Spaniard secured the 2026 Moto3 Junior World Championship title, completing a breakthrough season with the team’s junior programme.

The 16-year-old rider, who turns 17 in December, will partner with Marco Morelli next season as he takes the next step in his racing career.

Reward for an Outstanding MotoJunior Campaign

Cano earned his promotion following an impressive debut season in the Moto3 Junior World Championship. Riding for the CFMOTO Aspar Team Junior, he claimed six podium finishes, including five victories, to secure the championship title.

His latest success adds to an already impressive junior racing résumé. Cano won the European Talent Cup in 2024, finished runner-up in the championship the following year, and has now crowned his final season in the World Championship feeder series by becoming Moto3 Junior World Champion.

Cano Replaces Moto3 Champion Máximo Quiles

The promotion follows the departure of reigning Moto3 World Champion Máximo Quiles, who will move up to the Moto2 World Championship in 2027.

With Quiles vacating his seat, the CFMOTO Aspar Team selected Cano after a season in which all three Aspar Team Junior riders remained in championship contention until the final round.

The rider from Murcia ultimately impressed the team with his speed, consistency, and maturity throughout the season, earning the opportunity to race on the world stage.

Aspar Confident in Cano’s Potential

Team owner Jorge Martínez “Aspar” believes Cano has shown all the qualities needed to succeed in Moto3 and is pleased to continue supporting the young rider’s development.

“With the signing of Carlos Cano, we’ve confirmed the final rider we needed for the next World Championship season. We’re delighted to have him on board for 2027 and to support him on his debut.”

“This year we’ve seen him make great progress with the Aspar Team Junior and, despite it being his first year in the category, he’s shown he is very talented. The title is the perfect reward for a fantastic season by both Carlos and the team.”

Cano Ready for the Next Challenge

Cano admitted joining the Moto3 World Championship with the CFMOTO Aspar Team is a dream come true and is eager to begin the next chapter of his career.

“I’m absolutely thrilled to be making the leap to the World Championship next year, especially with the CFMOTO Aspar Team. Ever since I was a child, my dream has been to reach the World Championship.”

“It will be a year of learning. I’ll need to adapt to the team, discover many new circuits, and learn from the fastest riders. Every race will be an opportunity to improve.”

Eyes on the 2027 Moto3 Season

With Cano’s signing confirmed, the CFMOTO Aspar Team has completed its Moto3 rider line-up for the 2027 season. The Spanish youngster will enter the championship as one of the most promising talents to emerge from the Moto3 Junior World Championship, carrying strong momentum after his title-winning campaign and looking to continue his development at the highest level of Grand Prix motorcycle racing.
