After suffering heartbreak in Race 1 due to mechanical issues, Adam Norrodin made a remarkable comeback by securing his first victory of the 2026 MAM Malaysia Superbike Championship season during Race 2 of the MSBK1000 A category at the PETRONAS Sepang International Circuit.

The AMI Suzuki Motorsport rider delivered a composed and determined performance, overcoming fierce competition from Indonesia’s Mohammad Adenanta Putra of Astra Honda Racing Team to finally stand on the top step of the podium after several near misses earlier this season.

The race began with Adenanta making the perfect start, taking the lead into the opening corners while Adam slotted into second place. Pole sitter Kasma Daniel Kasmayudin of Hong Leong Yamaha Malaysia settled into third, followed by veteran Azlan Shah Kamaruzaman of AMI Suzuki Motorsport and Mohd Fahmi Abdul Wahaf of FGRT Project One.

Adam wasted little time mounting his challenge. On Lap 2, he overtook Adenanta to briefly claim the lead before setting an impressive lap of 2:09.468 on the following lap. However, Adenanta quickly responded, using his superior straight-line speed of 290.3kph before reclaiming the lead with a blistering lap time of 2:08.400 on Lap 4.

With Kasma remaining within striking distance in third, the battle at the front intensified. Adam continued to pile on the pressure and recorded the fastest lap of the race on Lap 5 with a time of 2:08.194, reducing the gap to just 0.308 seconds.

As the race entered its closing stages, Adenanta pushed his Honda to the limit, reaching 291.1kph on Lap 7 in an attempt to create a gap. Despite the effort, Adam remained glued to his rival’s rear wheel, waiting patiently for the perfect opportunity.

That opportunity came on Lap 8. Adam executed a clean and decisive overtake to reclaim the race lead before producing a flawless final few laps. Although Adenanta launched one final attack and reached an astonishing top speed of 295.1kph on the last lap, Adam remained calm under pressure to cross the finish line first in 21:32.776.

Adenanta finished just 0.598 seconds behind in second place with a time of 21:33.374, while Kasma completed the podium only fractions further back in 21:33.483 after another impressive ride.

The victory marked Adam’s long-awaited breakthrough after enduring disappointment in Race 1, where mechanical problems denied him a genuine chance of winning.

Speaking after the race, Adam admitted the victory was one he had dreamed about for a long time.

“To be completely honest, I have been dreaming of securing this victory for a very, very long time. While we have managed to reach the podium with a P3 finish in the past, finally achieving my very first win is an incredibly special and emotional milestone for me.”

He also reflected on the missed opportunity in Race 1, saying the team had the pace to win before mechanical issues ended their hopes.

“We actually had a genuine chance to take the top spot yesterday during Race 1, but unfortunately, we encountered some unexpected mechanical issues with the bike that held us back. Despite that setback, our pace has been remarkably strong throughout the entire weekend.”

Adam praised the relentless effort shown by his crew, revealing that the mechanics worked into the early hours of the morning to prepare the bike for Race 2.

“The team has done an absolutely phenomenal job behind the scenes to bounce back from yesterday. Their dedication has been unmatched, sometimes staying up and working late into the night until 1am just to ensure that the bike’s setup was absolutely perfect for today’s race.”

He dedicated the victory to everyone involved in the project and expressed confidence heading into the next round.

“It just goes to show that relentless dedication and hard work truly do pay off in the end. I want to dedicate this victory to every single person in the team who has poured so much time, effort, and long hours into this project. Hopefully, we can carry this momentum forward and repeat this fantastic result in the next round.”

Adam’s victory not only ends his wait for a maiden win in the 2026 campaign but also reignites his championship challenge as the MAM Malaysia Superbike Championship heads into its next round.
