The Penang Autoshow 2026 successfully concluded its inaugural edition on a high note, marking a historic milestone as the first regional expansion of the Malaysia Autoshow brand.
Organised by the Malaysia Automotive, Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii), the four-day event attracted an impressive 38,815 visitors and generated approximately RM201.96 million in potential sales. The strong turnout highlights the growing demand for automotive innovation and next-generation mobility solutions in Malaysia’s northern region.
Throughout the event, a total of 439 vehicle bookings and more than 930 test drives were recorded, reflecting strong consumer confidence and increasing market interest in electrified and advanced mobility technologies.

The encouraging response also demonstrated the commercial potential and strategic importance of regional automotive showcases in driving industry growth and strengthening public engagement within Malaysia’s automotive ecosystem.
Penang Autoshow 2026 brought together 15 automotive brands and over 50 exhibitors, featuring the latest developments in vehicle technology, mobility solutions, aftermarket products, and automotive lifestyle experiences.
The event was officiated by Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, reflecting the state government’s continued commitment towards automotive innovation, future mobility development, and industrial growth within the northern corridor.
Beyond the exhibition floor, visitors were treated to a wide range of activities and entertainment, including organised car club gatherings, a special Labour Day tribute performance by Malaysian rock icon Dato’ Awie, as well as a Tesla light show that added excitement to the overall atmosphere for both enthusiasts and families.

One of the biggest highlights of the autoshow was its focus on future mobility and upcoming vehicle launches. Among the standout debuts was the Jetour T1, a rugged urban-focused SUV that is now open for booking with an estimated price range between RM143,800 and RM153,800.
The event also featured the debut of the GWM Tank 300 HEV, introducing a new petrol-hybrid variant of the popular off-road SUV. Meanwhile, PRO-NET added further excitement to the EV segment by unveiling a new Jade Green signature colour option for the Proton e.MAS 5.
The premium and high-performance segments were equally noteworthy. Hyundai officially opened bookings for both the IONIQ 5 N and IONIQ 6 N, while visitors were also given an exclusive preview of the flagship IONIQ 9 alongside the sleek Denza Z9 GT.
In the pre-owned vehicle sector, Carsome showcased insights into the evolving automotive landscape while reinforcing its focus on trust and transparency within the used vehicle market.

The autoshow also marked the return of Dunlop to the Malaysian market after a decade-long absence. During the event, Dunlop introduced its latest Blue Response TG tyre lineup, specially engineered to optimise efficiency and driving range for electric vehicles.
Adding further significance to the event, Penang Autoshow 2026 also received an official visit from the Tuan Yang Terutama Yang di-Pertua Negeri Pulau Pinang, Tun Dato’ Seri Utama Haji Ramli bin Ngah Talib. His presence further emphasised the importance of the autoshow as a strategic platform for the growth and transformation of Malaysia’s automotive industry.
The event concluded with the announcement of the grand prize winners for its signature giveaway campaigns. Sing Siew Lean, winner of the “Book a Car, Win a Car” contest, drove home a Chery Tiggo 7 PHEV, while Siti Rahemah binti Alaw Deen won the grand lucky draw prize, a Jaecoo J5.
These giveaways further reflected the strong engagement and excitement among visitors throughout the event.

Chief Executive Officer of MARii, Azrul Reza Aziz, described the positive response from industry players, consumers, and families across the northern region as a strong indicator of the importance of expanding quality automotive showcases into regional markets.
“Through these initiatives, MARii is committed to strengthening the national automotive ecosystem, accelerating technology adoption, as well as creating greater public engagement towards the mobility transformation agenda guided by the National Automotive Policy (NAP2020),” said Azrul Reza Aziz.
Following the success of Penang Autoshow 2026, attention will now shift towards the next major event on the calendar — the Malaysia Autoshow 2027, which will once again be held at Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS).
