The Royal Malaysia Police have announced scheduled road closures and diversions across 15 key roads and highways in the Klang Valley from July 8 to 11 to facilitate the 58th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting and related events.

Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) director Datuk Seri Yusri Hassan Basri confirmed the affected routes will include main entry and exit points into the capital, as well as roads connecting to Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and several hotels housing foreign delegates.

Road Closures

Among the affected routes are:

Highways: KLIA Highway, ELITE, MEX, KL–Seremban

City Roads: Lingkaran Putrajaya; Jalan Istana; Jalan Damansara; Jalan Tun Abdul Razak; Jalan Ampang; Jalan Sultan Ismail; Jalan Bukit Bintang; Jalan Imbi; Persimpangan Jalan Ampang/Jalan P Ramlee; Persimpangan Jalan Sultan Ismail/Jalan P Ramlee; Persimpangan Jalan Perak/Jalan P Ramlee; Persimpangan Jalan Perak/Jalan Pinang; Persimpangan Jalan Stonor/Jalan Kia Peng; Persimpangan Jalan Stonor/Persiaran KLCC.

Closures will take place in phases beginning as early as 7:00 AM, based on the arrival schedules of international dignitaries. The area surrounding Persiaran KLCC, Jalan Kia Peng, Jalan P. Ramlee, and Jalan Perak is expected to experience the heaviest traffic restrictions during the four-day period.

Of particular note is July 10, when multiple closure phases will be enforced at 7:00 AM, 5:00 PM, 7:00 PM, and 10:00 PM to accommodate official convoys.

Motorists are strongly advised to plan alternative routes and make use of public transportation where possible to minimise disruptions.

“This traffic operation is part of our national strategy to ensure smooth logistics and high-level security throughout the summit,” said Datuk Seri Yusri, adding that police personnel will be stationed at key junctions to assist with traffic flow and public safety.

The ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting is expected to welcome top diplomats and government leaders from across the region, making it one of the most significant international events hosted in Malaysia this year.
