The Asian market is definitely seeing good results with their bold direction on emphasising on electric bikes. Prior to this, Ather Energy launched their new 340 and 450 electric scooters and now eMotion Motors has revealed their all-new electric motorcycle today.
Part of the objectives of the Indian government is to go green and in a densely populated nation where motorcycles are one of the main commute, bringing out electric motorcycles would be a good way to do so. Indian-based eMotion Motors is well-known for their electric bicycles and scooters but the firm has expanded its horizon with their new Surge electric motorcycle. This depicts a shift in the firm’s lineup towards faster, higher power vehicles, much suitable for the domestic crowd.
The firm has spent the last seven years developing this new electric motorcycle and the Surge has so far achieved over 30,000 km (18,600 mi) in the testing. It has a top speed of 120 km/h (75 mph) and 0-60 km/h (37 mph) acceleration in under 4 seconds. It also features a high torque setup with 20Nm produced at the motor and geared down to a massive 517 Nm at the rear wheel.
Not to mention, the battery can be recharged in 30 minutes. eMotion Motors has plans to increase the torque, and thus opted for a 4-speed gearbox. The motorcycle includes a 7-inch touchscreen display for monitoring all of the motorcycle’s vitals, cloud-connectivity and GPS, which allows for geo-fencing and vehicle locating as integrated anti-theft measures. It also comes with an option for solar auxiliary charging, though eMotion hasn’t yet released details on the feature.
