The final pre-season test for the Superbike World Championship at Phillip Island Test has run into an unexpected logistical issue, with tyre shipments delayed ahead of the two-day session on 16–17 February.

After weather-disrupted outings at Jerez and Portimão earlier in January, teams were hoping for valuable dry-track mileage in Australia. However, the latest setback means a reduced number of tyres may be available during the test due to delays in sea freight operations.

Series promoter Dorna confirmed the situation in an official statement, clarifying that the issue occurred within third-party logistics and was not the responsibility of tyre supplier Pirelli.

To minimise disruption, a contingency plan has already been activated. Additional tyres are being shipped by air directly to Phillip Island, ensuring teams still have access to a representative selection for testing. While not all originally scheduled tyres may be available, organisers stress that preparations can continue without major compromise.

Importantly, tyre allocation for the race weekend itself will remain unchanged. The delayed sea freight shipment is expected to arrive in time for the Australian Round, which begins on 20 February.

With pre-season track time already limited this year, teams will need to use their sessions wisely, but the championship’s opening round is not expected to be affected.
