Touring motorcycles are the choice of many riders who like to explore long distances. Whether it’s for a leisurely weekend ride or a cross-country trip, factors such as comfort, durability and performance play an important role in choosing the right touring motorcycle.

In Malaysia, there are a wide selection of touring motorcycles from various engine capacities and for every level of rider skill. Some are suitable for beginners, and some are also for experienced riders who want more power.

Here are five touring motorcycles on iMotorbike that can be considered among the best choices, based on a combination of specifications, comfort and long-distance travel capabilities.

1. 2025 Modenas Versys-X 250 LE

The Modenas Versys-X 250 LE is a great choice for riders who are just starting out in the world of touring. This motorcycle uses a 249cc parallel-twin engine that produces around 33 hp and 22 nm of torque, powerful enough for daily riding and comfortable enough for long rides.

Despite the small engine capacity, this motorcycle offers a fairly upright riding position, a large fuel tank and economical fuel consumption. This makes it very practical for long trips without having to stop for fuel too often. Because this motorcycle is 250cc, riders do not need to upgrade their license to B Full to ride this motorcycle.

Additionally, its light weight makes it easy to control, especially for new riders. It may not be as fast as the larger models, but in terms of comfort and efficiency, the Versys-X 250 LE is among the best in its category.

2. 2021 Benelli TRK 502X

The Benelli TRK 502 X is often a popular choice among touring riders in Malaysia who are looking to upgrade to a more powerful touring motorcycle. Powered by a 500cc parallel-twin engine with around 48 hp and 45 nm of torque, it is able to provide a balance between performance and control.

What makes this bike stand out is its large and sturdy adventure design, complete with a 20-liter fuel tank. This is very helpful for riding long distances without having to worry about fuel. Although this bike is a little heavy, it makes this bike feel good and stable when riding on the highway.

The long-travel suspension and spoke-type rims used also make it suitable for doing a bit of off-roading. In terms of comfort, the relaxed riding position and spacious seat make it ideal for hours of riding.

3. 2013 Kawasaki Versys 650

The Kawasaki Versys 650 is one of the most balanced touring motorcycles in its segment. It uses a 649cc parallel-twin engine with around 64 hp and 61nm of torque, enough for easy highway cruising.

This model is known for its stable handling and comfortable riding position. It is also suitable for various types of roads, whether in the city or on the highway.

Although not the latest model, the Versys 650 is still relevant because of its very durable engine and not many problems. If you want a touring motorcycle that won’t give you a headache leaving you stranded on the side of the road, this motorcycle can be added to your list.

4. 2017 BMW F 800 GS

The BMW F 800 GS is a more serious adventure touring motorcycle. It is powered by a 798cc parallel-twin engine with a power of around 85 hp and 83 nm of torque. Its high torque is capable of providing aggressive acceleration and comfortable performance for long journeys.

This model is designed for riders who want the freedom to explore a variety of surfaces, including off-road. The high suspension, large ground clearance and more advanced electronic systems make it very versatile.

In terms of touring, the comfort offered is excellent for long journeys. It may be a bit tall for some riders, but in terms of capability, the F 800 GS is one of the most complete.

5. 2014 Suzuki V-Strom 1000

The Suzuki V-Strom 1000 is the choice for riders who want maximum power and comfort. It uses a 1037cc V-twin engine with a power of around 100 hp and 103 nm of torque, suitable for long trips carrying heavy loads. The exhaust sound from its V-Twin engine is also capable of providing satisfaction every time you ride.

This model is known for its highway stability and long-term comfort. It is also equipped with a traction control system and various other safety features to ensure your long-distance rides are safer.

With a large fuel tank and a comfortable riding position, the V-Strom 1000 is perfect for long-distance touring or cross-country riding. It may be heavier, but the reward is a very stable and premium riding experience.

Conclusion

Choosing a touring motorcycle depends on the rider’s needs and experience. If you’re just starting out, a model like the Versys-X 250 LE is enough to provide a comfortable touring experience.

For those looking for a balance between power and practicality, the TRK 502 X and Versys 650 are excellent choices. Meanwhile, the BMW F 800 GS and V-Strom 1000 are suitable for riders who want higher performance and wider touring capabilities.

Whatever your choice, the most important thing is comfort, control and confidence when riding. That will determine whether your touring experience is enjoyable or not. If you are interested in looking for a touring motorcycle, you can visit the iMotorbike website or come to a showroom near you.
