Suzuki Malaysia has officially introduced the all-new Suzuki DR-Z4S and Suzuki DR-Z4SM, marking the return of the iconic DR-Z lineup with two purpose-built models for both off-road adventure and urban supermoto riding.

First unveiled globally in late 2024, both models are now available in Malaysia with a promotional price of RM39,888 (excluding insurance), limited to the first 50 buyers. Subsequent units will be priced at RM42,888.

The DR-Z name has been part of Suzuki’s lineup since 2000, and this latest generation represents a significant evolution. Both the DR-Z4S and DR-Z4SM have undergone extensive upgrades, with nearly every component redesigned compared to the outgoing model.

The new platform features a steel tube frame, paired with an aluminium subframe and swingarm, contributing to improved rigidity and weight balance.

Powering both models is a new 398cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder DOHC engine with fuel injection and titanium intake valves. The engine produces 38 PS and 37 Nm of torque, while meeting Euro 5+ emissions standards.

The five-speed gearbox is retained but now comes with the Suzuki Clutch Assist System (SCAS), offering smoother gear shifts and improved control.

For the first time, the DR-Z platform adopts a ride-by-wire throttle, enabling electronic features such as selectable riding modes (A, B and C) and traction control settings (1, 2, Gravel and Off). The dual-channel ABS system can also be adjusted, with the DR-Z4S allowing full deactivation for off-road riding.

While both models share the same core engineering, they are designed for different riding environments. The DR-Z4S is built for off-road and enduro use, equipped with 21-inch front and 18-inch rear spoked wheels, along with longer suspension travel (280 mm front / 296 mm rear). Braking is handled by a 270 mm front disc with a two-piston Nissin caliper.

Meanwhile, the DR-Z4SM is tailored for street-focused supermoto performance, featuring 17-inch wheels front and rear and a larger 310 mm floating front disc for improved braking on tarmac. Suspension travel is slightly reduced at 260 mm front and 277 mm rear for better on-road handling.

Both models utilise fully adjustable Kayaba suspension, offering compression and rebound tuning for a more personalised riding setup.

Riding information is presented through a compact LCD display, which includes gear position, riding mode and oil level indicators. A dedicated control button allows riders to easily adjust ABS settings on the go.

With the introduction of the DR-Z4S and DR-Z4SM, Suzuki brings back a legendary nameplate with a modern twist, offering riders the flexibility to choose between rugged off-road capability and agile urban performance.

The launch signals Suzuki’s renewed focus on dual-purpose motorcycles, catering to riders who seek versatility without compromising on performance or technology.
