A total of 98 motorcycles were seized while 751 summons were issued for various offences in a massive integrated operation carried out around Kuala Lumpur on Sunday, April 19, from 10pm to 7am.
Citing a report by RTM News, Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department head ACP Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa said the operation involved the inspection of 750 motorcycles and 80 cars.
According to him, a total of seven individuals were arrested during the operation, including cases related to drug abuse and driving under the influence of alcohol.

“Two individuals were arrested after testing positive for methamphetamine, three others for driving under the influence of alcohol, as well as two motorcyclists for other offences,” he said.
He added that among the other offences detected included modifications of motorcycles that did not meet specifications, such as no braking system, as well as cases of modifying registration numbers.
“One of the arrests was made under Section 108 of the Road Transport Act 1987 for modifying the registration number by placing a photograph,” he explained.
This integrated operation was carried out at several key locations including Jalan Ipoh, Jalan Kuching, Pasar Sentul Toll Plaza, and Jalan Pantai Baharu.
The police also took action by besieging the area at Jalan Tun Razak which is believed to be the location of “mat rempit” activities to race and perform dangerous acts.

During the operation, there were riders who tried to escape by riding against the current, but were successfully broken by the authorities.
“In the fog, some tried to escape, but the competence of the police managed to prevent the attempt and all those arrested were checked,” he said.
The operation also involved the collaboration of several other agencies including the Road Transport Department, the National Anti-Drugs Agency and the Kuala Lumpur City Hall.
This integrated operation demonstrates the continuous commitment of the authorities in combating street gangster activities and ensuring the safety of road users in the capital are always being guaranteed.
