The fight for the 2025 FIM Superbike World Championship title has taken an exciting turn as Toprak Razgatlioglu delivered a dominant performance at the penultimate round in Estoril, claiming two victories and a second-place finish to extend his lead in the standings.

Riding the #1 BMW M 1000 RR for the ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team, Razgatlioglu conquered both the Race 1 and Superpole Race before finishing second in Race 2, setting multiple lap records across the weekend. With his latest results, the Turkish star now leads the championship by 39 points over Ducati’s Nicolò Bulega, heading into the final round at Jerez de la Frontera, Spain.

His teammate, Michael van der Mark, endured mixed fortunes in Portugal. After being involved in a first-corner collision during Saturday’s race, the Dutchman rebounded with two strong performances on Sunday, finishing ninth in the Superpole Race and tenth in Race 2, securing valuable points for BMW.

In the manufacturers’ standings, BMW continues to close in on Ducati, now trailing by just three points heading into the final three races of the season. A total of 62 points remain available at Jerez, setting the stage for a thrilling finale.

BMW Confident Ahead of Jerez Showdown

BMW Motorrad Motorsport’s Head, Sven Blusch, praised the team’s results and emphasized that Estoril marked “an important step toward the title.”

“It was another important step towards the title and an almost perfect weekend for us,” said Blusch. “With two victories and a second place, we now travel to Jerez with a very solid points advantage. Toprak’s performance was outstanding, and we’re also pleased with Mickey’s top-ten finishes. Now, our focus is to be fully prepared for the season finale.”

Razgatlioglu: “Jerez Will Be the Decider”

Reflecting on the weekend, Razgatlioglu said consistency was key to managing his lead. “I was really happy to win the first race,” said Razgatlioglu. “In Race 2, I pushed hard but decided that finishing second was the smart choice for the championship. Now we go to Jerez with a margin, and I’ll do my best again.”

Van der Mark Shows Resilience After Tough Start

Despite early setbacks, Van der Mark’s recovery underlined his determination. “Saturday was disappointing, but Sunday was much better,” said Van der Mark. “I had good pace and fought hard in both races. I’m happy to bring home solid points, and now all eyes are on Jerez — it looks like Toprak will take the title there.”

With BMW just three points behind Ducati and Toprak Razgatlioglu closing in on his first world title with the German manufacturer, the upcoming season finale at Jerez promises to be one of the most intense showdowns in recent WorldSBK history.
