The Piaggio Group (PIA.MI) continues to expand its global footprint with the establishment of a new subsidiary in the Philippines, reinforcing its commitment to strengthening operations across the Asia Pacific region. This strategic move underlines the Group’s confidence in the Philippines, one of the most dynamic markets for two-wheel mobility in Southeast Asia.

Despite ongoing challenges in the global economy, Piaggio’s investment in a direct sales operation in the Philippines highlights the country’s increasing importance within the Group’s international growth strategy. The new subsidiary will handle the importation and distribution of Vespa, Piaggio, and Aprilia scooters, Aprilia and Moto Guzzi motorcycles, as well as spare parts and accessories. Additionally, the company will evaluate potential opportunities in the light commercial vehicle segment to further diversify its presence in the market.

The Philippines currently ranks as the third-largest two-wheeler market in Southeast Asia, following Indonesia and Vietnam, and the fifth-largest worldwide, after India and China. With annual sales exceeding 2.3 million scooters and motorcycles, the nation represents a significant growth opportunity, particularly within the premium and lifestyle-oriented segments, where Piaggio’s brands hold strong appeal.

Over the past decade, the Philippines has experienced remarkable economic progress, with per capita income increasing by 40%. This rising prosperity has led to greater consumer demand for distinctive, high-quality products, an area where Piaggio’s portfolio stands out for its design, innovation, and Italian heritage.

The establishment of Piaggio’s Philippine subsidiary not only supports its long-term goal of expanding in high-potential markets but also aligns with the Group’s mission to deliver premium mobility solutions tailored to the evolving lifestyles of modern riders across the region.
