Indian startup Oben Electric is making waves in the country’s crowded electric vehicle (EV) market with the launch of its latest offering, the Rorr EZ: a smart, city-focused electric motorcycle that’s now available for purchase on Amazon India, a move that grants the brand instant access to over 150 million potential customers.

But the Rorr EZ isn’t just a headline-grabbing e-commerce novelty. It’s a purpose-built electric motorcycle featuring practical range options, in-house tech innovation, and real-world performance, all at a price point lower than a flagship smartphone.

Three Battery Options, One Urban Mission

The Rorr EZ is offered in three LFP (lithium iron phosphate) battery variants:

  • 2.6 kWh – 110 km range
  • 3.4 kWh – 140 km range
  • 4.4 kWh – 175 km range

Each pack supports fast charging to 80% in just 45 minutes, making it well-suited for urban commuters.

Paired with a 5.9-kW motor delivering 52 Nm of torque and 7.5 kW peak power, the Rorr EZ boasts a top speed of 95 km/h and accelerates from 0–40 km/h in 3.3 seconds, enough to meet the daily mobility needs of most Indian riders.

Built from the Ground Up

Oben Electric distinguishes itself by developing core components in-house, including:

  • Chargers
  • Motors
  • Batteries
  • Vehicle control units

Its LFP batteries are claimed to last twice as long as conventional lithium-ion cells, while also offering 50% better heat resistance, a key benefit in India’s extreme climate.

Designed for Everyday Life

Key features of the Rorr EZ include:

  • Three riding modes: Eco, City, and Havoc
  • Colour LED display with smart info integration
  • Geofencing, Driver Alert System (DAS), Unified Braking Assistance (UBA), and theft prevention
  • Warranty options of up to 5 years / 75,000 km

From a design perspective, the motorcycle strikes a balance between modern and neo-retro styling. It comes in four bold colour choices: Electro Amber, Surge Cyan, Lumina Green, and Photon White.

The chassis features a telescopic front fork, monoshock rear, and 200 mm ground clearance, along with 230 mm water-wading capability. Its 810 mm seat height offers versatility across rider sizes.

Priced Below a Smartphone

In a striking pricing move, the top-tier variant of the Rorr EZ retails at INR 129,999 (approximately USD 1,550 / RM 7,200), which is less than the cost of an iPhone 16 Pro Max in India. For an urban EV motorcycle with quick charging, multiple tech features, and custom-built internals, the value proposition is difficult to ignore.

Expanding Beyond E-Commerce

While launching on Amazon grabs attention, Oben Electric has broader plans. By the end of this fiscal year, the company aims to establish over 150 showrooms across 50 cities in India, blending digital convenience with traditional accessibility.

Outlook

With its unique combination of affordability, locally developed technology, and urban practicality, the Rorr EZ is a bold step forward for Oben Electric. Though currently limited to India, the startup’s approach could mark a shift in how EVs are developed, sold, and scaled in emerging markets and potentially, one day, beyond.
