Marc Marquez continued his dominant run in the 2025 MotoGP season by clinching victory at the Czech Grand Prix in Brno on Sunday, marking his fifth consecutive win and eighth triumph in 12 races this year.

The factory Ducati rider crossed the line 1.753 seconds ahead of Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia), while KTM’s Pedro Acosta secured his first podium finish of the season in third. Marquez, 32, now leads the world championship with a commanding 381 points, 120 ahead of his brother Alex Marquez, who crashed out on lap two, and 168 ahead of Ducati teammate Francesco Bagnaia.

It was a perfect weekend yet again for the six-time MotoGP champion, having also taken victory in Saturday’s sprint race.

“I felt really good on the bike, just like in yesterday’s Sprint,” Marquez said. “I saw that in the early laps, Marco was pushing hard and taking some risks, so I decided to wait. As soon as I noticed the first drop in grip, I overtook him and pulled a gap. The feeling with the bike was even better than at the Sachsenring. I was riding smoothly and had some margin to go even quicker.”

Sunday’s race at the newly resurfaced 5.4km Brno Circuit, returning to the calendar after a five-year absence, saw Bagnaia start from pole, only to lose the lead to Bezzecchi on lap two. Marquez followed shortly after and took over the race by lap eight, controlling the pace to the finish.

Acosta fended off pressure from Bagnaia in the closing laps to hold onto third, finishing 3.366 seconds behind Marquez.

Meanwhile, reigning world champion Jorge Martin finally scored his first points of the season with a seventh-place finish, the first race he has completed in 2025 after missing 10 rounds due to preseason and early-season injuries.

Nearly 220,000 fans filled the stands across the weekend to witness Marquez’s fourth MotoGP victory at Brno, adding to his wins in 2013, 2017, and 2019.

The race saw multiple early retirements, including Alex Marquez, who also took out Joan Mir, and Enea Bastianini a lap later. Japan’s Takaaki Nakagami missed the race entirely after suffering a knee injury during Saturday’s sprint.

The MotoGP season will now take a summer break before returning with the Austrian Grand Prix at the Red Bull Ring from August 15–17.
