Malaysia’s rising star Hakim Danish launched his championship campaign in spectacular fashion at the season opener Circuito de Jerez, Spain, securing pole position and two hard-fought second-place finishes in a pair of thrilling races that showcased his world-class potential. The young talent clocked a blistering 1:48.223 in qualifying, dominating the session by 0.446 seconds over Spanish rival Brian Uriarte.

Race 1 saw Danish control the pace from the front until a heartbreaking final-corner mistake allowed Uriarte to snatch victory by just 0.037 seconds. The Malaysian’s disappointment turned to determination for Sunday’s Race 2, where he engaged in an electrifying 10-rider battle for supremacy.

After early drama eliminated both Uriarte and Indonesian contender Veda Pratama, Danish found himself in a four-way scrap for victory on the final lap. A breathtaking last-corner showdown saw Australian Carter Thompson edge Danish by a mere 0.031 seconds in one of the closest finishes in recent memory.

“In Race 1, I managed to finish on the podium in second place. Of course, I was aiming for the win, but overall I felt very good and confident throughout the race. I tried to manage the pace and maintain my P1 position, but I made a mistake at the second last corner which caused me to lose speed and allowed Brian to overtake me.”

“In Race 2, I finished in second place again and I accept this result. I felt very confident with the bike, and the battle at the front was extremely intense right up to the final corner. I will continue to work hard to improve my performance for the upcoming race in Le Mans,” said the Malaysian sensation.

Despite missing out on victory twice, Danish’s consistency has him leading the championship standings with 40 points, just two ahead of Thompson. The results mark a significant breakthrough for Malaysian motorsport, with Danish crediting sponsors KBS, PSIC, Terengganu Inc and RCB for their crucial support.

The championship now moves to France’s legendary Le Mans circuit on 9-11 May, where Danish will aim to convert his scintillating pace into that elusive first victory. With his combination of raw speed and racecraft, the young Malaysian has already established himself as the man to beat in what promises to be a fiercely contested season.
