Riding a motorcycle isn’t just about getting from point A to B, it’s about the thrill of discovery, the joy of learning, and the unforgettable moments shared along the way. That’s exactly what defines Selektive, a local riding group built on passion and camaraderie, living by their tagline, “No One Left Behind.” Every convoy is an experience worth remembering, and their first ride of the year was no exception.

This past Sunday (16th Feb), Selektive officially kicked off its 2025 riding season with an exciting journey to Tanjung Malim, Perak. The event saw an impressive turnout of 80 riders from across the country, all united by their love for the open road and the adventure that comes with it.

The day began bright and early at the first rendezvous point (RV) at Welly Complex Sungai Buloh. Riders fueled up with breakfast coffee and gathered for a briefing from Selektive’s leader, Faris better known by his social name farisunoori_motovlog, who outlined the route and emphasized safety precautions. With helmets on, intercoms connected, action cameras rolling, and engines roaring to life, the group was ready to hit the road.

Around 10:30 AM, the convoy split into two groups and headed northbound via the PLUS highway toward Tanjung Malim. The ride progressed smoothly, with the first scheduled stop at Petron Hulu Bernam (after Exit 121 Tanjung Malim) around 11:30 AM for a quick refuel and breather.

The journey continued to Restoran Rumah Makan Sri Muallim, where riders gathered for a well-deserved meal, sharing stories, laughter, and the pure joy of the open road. By 1:15 PM, the group set off to explore the National Education Museum at UPSI (Sultan Idris Education University), adding a touch of history and culture to the day’s adventure.

The final checkpoint was Kopi Saigon Batang Kali, where Selektive hosted a lucky draw, giving out over 50 merchandise items and a jackpot prize of two pairs of SMK helmets. As the day wound down, riders parted ways, heading home with a sense of harmony and satisfaction from the day’s experience.

The ride not only provided a smooth and enjoyable journey but also marked Selektive’s first-ever riding event of the year, which was a great success.

Reflecting on the Ride

Faris, Selektive’s leader, expressed his gratitude for the day’s success: “First of all, thank Allah SWT for making everything easy. If you check the weather, it was supposed to rain all day, but thank God it stayed fine throughout the trip.”

He added, “The turnout was very unexpected. This ride broke Selektive’s previous record of 63 riders going to Kuala Selangor. This time, to Tanjung Malim, there were as many as 80 riders. Thank God, and overall, I was satisfied and happy to see the riders who took part were all happy before and after.”

Speaking about the group’s philosophy, Faris emphasized inclusivity: “For all Selektive rides, there’s no limit to who can take part. What matters is that we provide interesting activities and opportunities for all participants. From there, the confidence of the members grows, and they continue to support Selektive for the long term.”

He also highlighted the group’s mission: “The main aim of Selektive is to invite more young people to take part in healthy activities where we explore Malaysia and enjoy its history. By appreciating the beauty of our country, we also increase our knowledge about it.”

What’s Next for Selektive?

With such a positive reception, Faris confirmed that more rides and events are in the pipeline. “With the establishment of the Selektive High Council this year, we will provide more activities for all participants and prospective members,” he said.

A Rider’s Perspective

One of the participants, Muhd Hafiz, 26, shared his excitement about his first ride with Selektive: “It was an experience I won’t forget. I’ve always loved the excitement of riding, but this was something different as there was a sense of professionalism and companionship that I never had experienced before.”

He added, “The first thing I noticed was how smoothly everything flowed. Despite the group’s size, everyone knew exactly where they were supposed to be. Riding in formation felt like we were all part of a single unit. The pace was faster than I was used to, but we all had this unspoken agreement, we were there to have fun and watch out for each other.”

Hafiz concluded, “I was super tired by the end of the ride, but it was totally worth it. I pushed myself and learned a ton from the other riders. It was a really cool experience, and I made new friends, got better at group riding, and now I’m even more excited about what’s next!”
