Following the conclusion of the 2024 MotoGP season, Marc Márquez has officially transitioned to the Ducati factory team, a move that signals a bold new chapter in his illustrious career. After securing third place in the riders’ standings this season with Gresini Racing, Márquez now takes the reins of a factory Ducati bike for 2025, aiming to reclaim championship glory.

Márquez was introduced to the Ducati team environment on Sunday evening, following the Solidarity Barcelona MotoGP. The Gresini team accompanied him to the factory setup, where he began familiarizing himself with his new surroundings. By Monday, Márquez was fully immersed in the Ducati garage, engaging in meetings, getting fitted for his new machine, and meeting his new teammate, Pecco Bagnaia.

The move to Ducati’s factory team marks a significant career shift for Márquez, who left Honda last year and spent the 2024 season proving his prowess aboard a GP23 with Gresini. With victories at Aragón and San Marino, he emerged as the fastest rider on a year-old Ducati, earning him a promotion over Jorge Martín, the newly crowned 2024 MotoGP champion. Martín, who competed for the Pramac Racing team, will ride for Aprilia in 2025 after Ducati made the tough decision to prioritize Márquez.

Márquez begins pre-season testing on Tuesday at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. These sessions will be critical for him to adapt to the GP25, Ducati’s latest machinery, and to build chemistry with his new team. Fans and analysts alike are eager to see how quickly the eight-time world champion adjusts and whether he can mount a strong campaign for his ninth world title.

Despite the factory colours, Márquez’s Ducati will notably lack major sponsorship branding during the early stages of this partnership. However, his arrival has already generated excitement within the Ducati camp, with team members welcoming him warmly in Barcelona.

As Márquez and Bagnaia prepare to share the factory garage, the dynamic between the two-star riders will undoubtedly be one of the most-watched storylines of the 2025 season. While Ducati’s decision to part ways with Martín in favour of Márquez was challenging, it underscores the manufacturer’s ambition to maximize its championship chances.

With the same cutting-edge machinery as Bagnaia and VR46’s Fabio Di Giannantonio, Márquez is poised to make an immediate impact. Whether this new chapter will culminate in yet another championship triumph remains to be seen, but the stage is set for an electrifying season.

Stay tuned for updates, including Márquez’s initial impressions from pre-season testing, as MotoGP gears up for another thrilling year.
