A man from New Zealand named Leslie Harris made heads turn when he entered a motorcycle race just three weeks before his 98th birthday.

He is officially as the oldest motorcycle rider in competitive racing to Guinness World Records at 97 years old.

The organization that oversees this record announced that Leslie Harris had competed earlier this year in the 43rd Pukekohe Classic Motorcycle Festival in Auckland.

Harris along with his eldest son Rod, 64, and granddaughter Olivia, 21, also took part in the race.

The three took part in the Regularity race, where contestants had to achieve the most consistent lap times.

Harris previously topped the race in 2019, when he was 93, but he was unable to compete again until this year due to injuries and race cancellations due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Harris finished fourth in this year’s race. Rod finished eighth and Olivia finished 21st.

Harris hopes to compete in more events this year and will return for next year’s Pukekohe Classic Motorcycle Festival.

With the participation of Harris, clearly, age is no restriction to one pursuing their hobbies.
