QJ SRV300 spotted – Is this the incoming 300cc Harley-Davidson?

QJ SRV300 spotted – Is this the incoming 300cc Harley-Davidson?

The incoming 300cc Harley-Davidson appears to be spotted in its QJ Motor form in China. Here is everything you need to know!

In case you missed the buzz, here is a quick recap. Back in 2019,  Harley-Davidson teamed up with Qianjiang / QJ Motor (Parent company of Benelli) to work on a small capacity Harley motorcycle specifically for the Asian market. A year later, in early 2020 the project codenamed “HD338” was spotted in Benelli’s 2020 production plan which officially confirmed the arrival of a sub-400cc Harley-Davidson motorcycle.  Following this, there were numerous reports hinting that the incoming HD338 would be based on Benelli 302S/QJ 350. In fact, we came across a set of renderings and leaked photos in Q3 last year which looked promising.

Going back to the latest update, QJ Motor’s brand-new cruiser, the SRV300 has just been spotted in China. The latest reports suggest the incoming 300cc Harley would be based on the newly spotted QJ Motor SRV 300. In terms of design, we can’t disagree the SRV 300 closely resembles Harley’s Iron 883. Underneath, the SRV300 is rumoured to be powered by a 296cc V-Twin mill which has a rated power output of 30bhp. The power figure doesn’t seem much but given the claimed 163kg kerb weight, we think the 30bhp is more than enough for some spirited cruising and canyon runs.

So the question is, is this the incoming 300cc Harley-Davidson? Well, given the rumours and reports we have come across so far, we can’t confirm whether the incoming 300cc Harley would be based on the Benelli 302S/QJ 350 naked bike platform as earlier rumours suggested or the QJ Motor SRV cruiser like the latest reports suggest. However, looking at the SRV300’s design and the V-Twin mill underneath, the SRV300 seems to be a better fit to be a Harley. Having said that, if the incoming 300cc Harley is to based on the SRV300, we can expect the model to get its own Harley treatment. On another note, we also think there could be two separate sub-400cc Harley models; a 338cc naked street bike and a 296cc V-Twin cruiser. Well, for now, only time will tell.
