Honda Gorilla 125 and DAX 125 based on Honda Monkey are on the way?

Honda Gorilla 125 and DAX 125 based on Honda Monkey are on the way?

The latest reports from Japan suggest Honda might be coming out with two new mini leisure bikes, the Honda Gorilla 125 and DAX 125 based on the Honda Monkey 125!

The folks at Young Machine are here with another scoop! According to Young Machine, Honda might revive the mini motorcycle legends, the Honda Gorilla and Honda DAX. The latest rumour suggests these two leisure mini bikes could be based on the current-gen Honda Monkey 125 which has been here since 2018.

Don’t forget, the folks at Young Machine were the first to predict the arrival of the Honda CT125 Hunter Cub and the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-25R, so this is not just another casual rumour. Aside from the prediction, Young Machine also has some illustrations of these two bikes. Looking at the illustrations, the bikes look stunning and we can’t wait to see these two come to reality.

The Speculation

So how did they come up with this idea? Well, the new Honda CT 125 is based on the C125 Honda Super Cub and Young Machine predicts an all-new Honda Gorilla and DAX 125 models based on the Honda Monkey are also a possibility.

In case you don’t know the difference between the Monkey, Gorilla and DAX, here is a quick run-through. The Honda Gorilla, Honda DAX and Honda Monkey are under Honda’s leisure models, however, the Honda Monkey’s concept is to be transported in a car, whereas the heavy-duty Honda Gorilla and DAX are made to be ridden to the location.  As for the differences between the Honda Monkey and Gorilla; the Honda Gorilla comes with a bigger tank (9L), non-foldable handlebar and thicker seat. The Honda DAX, on the other hand, features a slender backbone frame with an under-seat fuel tank; unlike the Monkey and Gorilla.

According to Young Machine; if Honda does introduce these two bikes, the first bike to roll out would probably be the Honda Gorilla 125 and then the DAX 125. The reason? Well, the Honda Gorilla 125 can be manufactured based on the Honda Monkey 125 with a few minor exterior modifications. However, as the Honda DAX features an entirely new slender backbone frame; Honda would have to make major changes to the Honda Monkey’s frame which would increase development time and inturn delay the launch.
