MotoGP – Honda doesn’t know what happened to Lorenzo’s bike

The Repsol Honda team had a Sunday to forget with both Marc Marquez and Jorge Lorenzo not finishing the MotoGP race.

Things didn’t end well for the factory Repsol Honda team in MotoGP, as both riders didn’t make it to the end of the MotoGP race at the Circuit of the Americas. Marc Marquez crashed out of the lead and Jorge Lorenzo had to abandon due to a technical failure on the Honda RC213V.

If Marquez situation can be considered normal, what happened to Lorenzo isn’t.

Honda is trying to understand what is happening with their bike that’s causing so many technical failures, but Alberto Puig, Repsol Honda team manager, assumes that Honda still doesn’t know what happened to Lorenzo’s bike.

After a chain failure suffered by Marc Marquez at the Argentina GP, the exact same thing happened to Jorge Lorenzo during Qualifying 2 session at the Americas GP last Saturday, and on Sunday the bike suffered another failure forcing Lorenzo to quit the MotoGP race when he was recovering a lot of places.

Alberto Puig believes that what happened last weekend in America won’t happen again, but even with all the power of the Honda Racing Corporation behind them, the Japanese factory still needs more time to understand if their RC213V prototype has a problem or if all that happened is just bad luck.

Speaking to Motorsport.com, Jorge Lorenzo assured that what his bike suffered during the MotoGP race wasn’t another chain failure, but something else.

Is the Honda RC213V affected by a serious problem or was it all just bad luck? We will get an answer to that at the next round of the MotoGP season in Jerez de La Frontera.
