Honda Africa Four – Imagination knows no limits!

Honda Africa Four – Imagination knows no limits!

We’ve been seeing custom motorcycle builders creating some crazy projects like the IDM Tripla Competizione or the Suzuki Virus 1000, but this new build from Swiss dealership Brivemo Motos, shows that imagination knows no limits!

Their latest work is the Africa Four, a blend between an adventure bike like the Africa Twin and the powernaked CB1000 R, which means that the Africa Four pumps out no less than 145 hp and sends that to the ground with the added grip of knobby tires.

The base for this creation is the new Honda CB1000 R, including the four-cylinder engine, the mono-backbone frame, and its one-sided swingarm. The front forks were replaced by Showa units used on the off-road model CRF450R, and that allows the front wheel to travel 315 mm, allowing the rider to attack the off-road trails without any loss of control.

Given that this is an off-road bike, Brivemo Motos changed the braking power, switching from a double disc setup at the front wheel, to a single disc setup, but strangely enough, the stock CB1000 R wheels were kept, although they’re now covered by Continental TKC 80 for off-road adventures without losing grip.

The changes done in the front suspension meant that the standard electronics package had to be changed also. Traction control is still there, but the ABS is completely gone. Another element that had to be redone to fit the Africa Four off-road intentions is the exhaust, with the Honda dealership opting for a high mount carbon fiber silencer, that should also provide a great sound!

If you think this creation of Brivemo Motos is only for show, the reality is that the Africa Four will be used on the Brivemo Africa Twin Raid, an off-road event held every year by the dealership for its customers on the North of Africa, and the place where the Africa Four will need to show what it can do.

With more than ten years as a motorcycle journalist, i enjoy everything that has to do with two-wheels. I'm a fan of sport bikes and i prefer riding them on a racetrack, but give me a road filled with corners and good asphalt and i'll be there to have some fun!
