BMW S1000RR to get special M parts

BMW S1000RR to get special M parts
Bruno Gomes
December 17, 2018

For the first time ever, BMW racing department, known solely as BMW M, will be giving its own special touch to the brand-new S1000RR, with the third generation of this German superbike receiving a set of M parts to increase its performance and style.

Usually we see BMW customers using M parts on their cars, but for the first time ever the M logo will be seen on various components for the S1000RR, as optional equipment installed at the factory.

So, what does BMW M division have to make the S1000RR a true track weapon?

To start with, when you enter a BMW motorcycles dealership and order your new S1000RR, you’ll be given the chance to do the Pack M upgrade. This option gives the German superbike a specific Motorsport paint scheme and graphics – red, blue, black and white -, lightweight carbon fiber wheels, lithium battery, a frame kit that will allow you to adjust the swingarm height and position, and for specific track use, the electronics package also offers more options with the riding mode Pro, that unlocks adjustability of many electronic riding aids like traction control, anti-wheelie or stability control.

But the BMW M parts for the S1000RR doesn’t end here!

Here’s the full list of optional M parts to make your new S1000RR really stand out from the crowd and get those lap times during track days:

– wheel spindle protection;
– carbon fiber wheels;
– chain cover in carbon fiber;
– carbon fiber sprocket cover;
– front fuel tank cover in carbon fiber;
– carbon fiber upper fairings;
– M telemetry;
– M racing footpegs (rider and passenger);
– M seat (low, normal and high);
– M adjustable levers;
– M lever protection;
– M remote rear brake adjuster;
– M chain adjuster;
– Lightweight M battery;
– M carbon fiber engine protection;
– M wheelstand;
– Forged M wheels (front and rear);
– M motorcycle cover.

The new S1000RR is set to be one of the stars in this year’s superbike segment. The third generation of the German superbike gets more power and is much lighter than ever before, and adding to that, BMW Motorrad has also announced they’ll be officially returning to World Superbike next season in partnership with Shaun Muir Racing team, having Tom Sykes and Markus Reiterberger as their riders.

With more than ten years as a motorcycle journalist, i enjoy everything that has to do with two-wheels. I'm a fan of sport bikes and i prefer riding them on a racetrack, but give me a road filled with corners and good asphalt and i'll be there to have some fun!
