Flying motorcycles have always been on our minds, and most of us see them as something for the future. But there are those who believe that that flying future is already here, and that’s precisely what Chinese inventor Zhao Deli showed to everyone by building his own flying bike!
At 40 years of age, Zhao decided to quit his job, sell his house and ask for money to his friends and family in order to afford such a project, which, obviously, didn’t come cheap.
After working out how to build the hoverbike, Zhao had to test it over 1500 times before flying the bike over the skies of Dongguan city, learning how to maneuver her in the air, taking of and landing. And it’s certainly not an easy mission: the bike can reach a ground speed of 70 km/h while carrying a weight of up to 100 kg. The batteries last for 30 minutes and power up four propellers, similar to drones, fixed at each of the four corners of the flying bike.

Zhao Deli named the flying bike the “Jin Dou Yun”, which can be translated to “magic cloud”. This is because Zhao was inspired by a Chineese superhero known as Monkey King, who has a flying cloud to move around.
