The 2018 iteration of the Kawasaki Road Safety Campaign has been launched at the Sungai Besi toll plaza. Running from 9am to 6pm on January 25, motorcyclists with bikes from any manufacturer are welcomed to swing by the venue at the car park of the aforementioned toll plaza (southbound) for a 16-point check with no charge whatsoever.
As part of Kawasaki Motors Malaysia’s (KMSB) corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme, the road safety campaign aims increase the awareness of road safety amongst motorcyclists. “More than 6,000 road fatalities were recorded in 2017,” said transport minister, Dato’ Sri Liow Tiong Lai, who was present to officiate the campaign.
“Of the recorded figure, 62.7% involved motorcyclists,” he added. Back to the happenings at the event, the 16-point checks will, naturally, be conducted by technicians from Kawasaki’s Exclusive Service Centre (KESC).
With plenty of support from JPJ, PLUS, PDRM, JKJR, Tokio Marine Insurans (Malaysia) Bhd, AEON Credit Service, KHI Helmet and Bridgestone, riders who turn up for the event were treated to not just a free motorcycle check-up. Instead, early birds were even given the opportunity to trade their used helmets for brand new units as well as take home a high-visibility jacket.
