The World Superbike Championship (WSBK) will be commencing its 2018 season very soon. Ahead of that, it is apparent that the International Motorcycling Federation, better known as FIM, has come up with new revolutionary changes to regulate the race.
In an attempt to make the championship more exciting for the audience, FIM has announced that the use of ‘aerodynamic components’ will be allowed starting 2018. Other changes initiated by the Superbike commission include longer practice and warm up time.

With the new rules, this means that aerofairings are allowed. This is major considering MotoGP themselves have banned its usage. However, winglets may only be fitted to the homologated motorcycle.
Such would mean that the component must come from production models first instead of prototypes fitted to the superbikes. Therefore, manufacturers would have to first fit them into their production models. Thus far, only Kawasaki and Aprilia have done so.
