The PETRONAS MIE Racing RW Team Moto2 Malaysia squad wrapped up their home race at the PETRONAS Grand Prix of Malaysia with wildcard riders Muhammad Helmi Azman (#55) and Azroy Hakeem Anuar (#20) finishing twenty-third and twenty-fourth, respectively, at the Sepang International Circuit on Sunday.
The Moto2 race in Malaysia proved demanding for all riders, with air temperatures reaching 34°C and track heat soaring up to 52°C. Following a red flag in the earlier Moto3 event, the Moto2 race was rescheduled to 15:30 local time and was shortened to only 11 laps, creating a sprint-style challenge for the PETRONAS MIE Racing RW Team Moto2 Malaysia riders.
Starting from row ten, both Azman and Anuar made solid starts. Anuar gained several positions off the line, while Azman focused on maintaining a steady rhythm. After the restart, the two teammates exchanged places several times, pushing each other forward while adapting to the hot and slippery track conditions typical of Sepang.
As the laps progressed, Helmi Azman managed to edge ahead and finish P23, with Azroy Anuar crossing the line close behind in P24. Their consistent performance in front of the home crowd highlighted the growth and determination of the PETRONAS MIE Racing RW Team Moto2 Malaysia project.

“First of all, I want to say thanks so much to PETRONAS for giving me this opportunity. Overall, I’m pleased with my performance over the weekend. As for the race, I tried to stick with the group and maintain a consistent pace. With little mileage on the bike, it would have been hard for me to do more. We finished the race, and I improved on my pace and lap times with respect to the 2024 race. So, a big thanks to the sponsors and everyone that helped to make this possible.”

As the race went on, I found I had to slow my pace a little due to a technical issue, but I was able to continue battling with my teammate and finish the race. I enjoyed the experience this weekend and want to say a big thank you to PETRONAS.”
